Dieter Peter Bund (born 21 April, 1969) is a Slagern politician and statesman, currently serving as the Volksführer of Slagerny and 63rd Prime Minister of Slagerny. Bund previously served in the military during the Slag Wars as a paratrooper and sergeant, he took a leading role in the 2020 Slagern coup which saw then-president Tuska deposed just over a month after Bund as appointed the Prime Minister by him.
Bund served for 12 years in the military before rising to the rank of Sergeant, his military service coincided with the beginning of the Slag Wars. Bund, developing an increasingly nationalistic worldview after being politically active for years, chose to fight for the preservation of the Confederation. In 2010, as the war situation was deteriorating and the country further destabilising, Field Marshal Otto Tuska led a military coup, with the support of Bund, that was successful and settled for peace. In the Tuska regime Bund, with his long history of military service and reputation as a valiant war hero, was able to get in the inner circle of Tuska - being appointed on the 3rd of December, 2019, to replace the aging Wolfgang Ahlers. Appointing Bund as the Prime Minister proved to be Tuska's undoing, however, as Bund was quick to take advantage of the guerrilla war against organisations such as the Popular Front and rallied support to himself from those dissatisfied with Tuska's authoritarian rule. On the 16th of January, 2020, Bund led a coup against Tuska with broad support from the military, Tuska fled Slagerny in the following hours leaving Bund the sole leader of Slagerny.
Despite promising democratic reform upon taking power, Bund is widely considered a dictator. He rules a strongly authoritarian regime in Slagerny: freedom of press has declined further under his leadership, seeing Slagerny being placed consistently last in the freedom of press index, elections are not free and fair despite the reversal of Tuska's ban on political parties, government abuses of human rights are widespread, and Bund is the subject of a pervasive and deeply entrenched cult of personality.
