Basic Information

Agapota (Greek: Αγαπώτα), officially the Democratic Republic of Agapota (Greek: Λαϊκή Δημοκρατία Αγαπώτα) is a micronation (supposedly) located in Greece that declared 'independence' on 15 January 2021. The current Leader is Edward Winston, who has been incumbent since formation.

Agapota follows a dictatorship-type government system, with orionism as its main philosophy. As of now there are (de facto) 0 residents living within the micronation as there is no de jure land area. The currency is the djelick, the capital is Orion City, and the national animal is the Pink-headed Duck, which is a critically endangered animal found in India and Myanmar. The national motto is "Δόξα στον Ωρίωνα!" (English: "Glory to Orion!").

Namesake

Agapota's name came from (in a sense) complete gibberish. The story of its name goes back to 2020 when a friend of Edward Winston began speaking complete gibberish to him as to convince that she could speak a different language. One word she used especially was 'agapitr' and she used it so much that on 15 January 2021, the day Edward Winston created his new micronation, that gibberish word popped into his head. He tweaked it to sound more like a country's name, and thus Agapota was born.

Flag

Agapota's first flag was a relatively rushed design, featuring a very light blue background with a red hexagon almost touching the top of the flag, a black circle within the hexagon, and within the circle a badly drawn 3-pointed star. This was adopted on 11 June 2021. Beforehand Agapota did not have an official flag.

The second flag was an improvement on the first, being adopted on 16 March 2022. The blue background was made noticeably darker and the 3-pointed star less poorly drawn. In addition to this, the emblem was made slightly more centralised.

Agapota's current flag was adopted on 18 December 2022. and underwent a significant redesign. The background was changed to a vibrant blue, and the emblem in the centre was changed to a red octagon containing a black octagon, giving off a clean border effect. The current flag now has the emblem fully centralised. The was made larger and more sharp, while still retaining 3 points.

Coat of Arms

Agapota did not have a coat of arms until 23 November 2022. The design was a dark blue kite shield with an orange 3-pointed star at the top, and below the star reads the motto of Agapota, "Δόξα στον Ωρίωνα!" (English: "Glory to Orion!").

On 18 December 2023, the same day the current flag was adopted, the coat of arms was adjusted to include a set of dark green leaves below the shield. This soon became the alternate coat of arms, as on 11 April 2023, the original was put back in use.
