The Demarchist Domain of Chivato is a micronation founded at various unspecified times in different stages in 2005 (exact date unknown) and 2022 (on July 1st) and is location near the edge of the state of Vermont. Lake Champlain sits on one side of it while the rest of the Grand Isle island system surrounds it from the other side. It has a permanent population of six according to its anticipation of others' definition of a permanent population; in the national philosophy, there is no strict definition of a permanent population, as there is no such thing as a human forever bound to any piece of land. It considers all who identify with it as its population, including those who mingle in its associations.

Etymology

The name "chivato" is Spanish for "snitch" and refers to the name of both its first modern inhabitant and its history of hosting informants. Other names for the nation exist as well, most notably Anthropia, Humania, and Kronos (the prefixes "the house of" or "the inn of" may also be used). The first two of these refers to quirks in its governmental system, and the last one refers to the Greek word for "time", referring to the nation's desire to be timeless. Several other names exist, many drawing on Polynesian and Carthaginian culture.

Government and politics

The ruler is selected through a process of demarchism, that is, rather than leadership being passed down, it's chosen randomly whenever there are enough candidates. Currently the head of the nation is Lady Tynan AKA Lady Valentina (both names are valid, Valentina being her birth name by her adoptive mother) who settled in the area to become the nation's first ruler. She appointed herself ruler as a response to being ignored and dismissed by the surrounding local government, also starting a grassroots micronation political party that anyone can identify with. The primary part of the written ideology of this political party, drawing upon the ideology of relationship anarchy, is known as the Nation Anarchy Smorgasbord, and can be looked up online, the first post of which was posted by Lady Valentina on an account of hers on another site.

The political atmosphere of the nation is also overwhelmingly localist, as opposed to nationalism or globalism, and the nation partakes in events relating to the founding dates of villages, towns, and cities. The government operates on American Eastern Standard Time, also known as UTC-5, and it does not participate in Daylight Savings Time.

Law and order

Lady Valentina presides over every case like a true judge. Inspired by Jigonsasee's inn according to local Haudenosaunee legend, people from all over come to her for consultation, in return for respect for the micronational cause.

Military

There is no human military in the nation, but a system of quasi-booby-traps act as sufficient security. There is a military in the form of the Animal Force, however.

Geography

The nation exists on the edge of the Southernmost island in Grand Isle, a small system of islands in Lake Champlain which exists as a river system in Vermont. Due to this, it can both be said to be landlocked and non-landlocked.

Culture

Having inherited her position as holder of what would become the nation from her grandfather, the nation doesn't have any theocracy or one party system. People are free to be whatever they wish. Lady Valentina, however, grants special honor to those who partake in her traditions, derived from her mixed Scottish, Polynesian, and Carthaginian heritage, the latter of these which is strengthened by her view of being descended from Queen Dido. There is also a spiritual tradition practiced by the elites, the faith known as Aiken whose scripture is the Mune Shinri mixed with a sect of Mormonism known as Hagothism which details Jesus' visits to various Oceanic lands. The official colors of the nation are gold, silver, and turquoise, colors which decorate the whole nation.

The official languages of the nation are English, Toki Pona, and Toki Ma, and people in this nation travel on the left side of the road.

Foreign relations

The nation has uneasy relations with its neighboring peoples, who view it with suspicion and have developed an apathy for it, which is partially credited to the decision to solidify its assertion as its own nation. During the Vermont floods of 2022, this abandonment showed an ugly form when Lady Valentina's domain was left to fend for itself and its inhabitants almost drowned as the water on the exterior rose above where feet could touch the ground. Due to this, relations are incredibly challenged. Intermicronationally, the nation itself is in a four-way league with three other nations, one of which is on the edge of Grand Island in New York, one of which is on Pelee Island in Ontario, and one of which is on Long Island, the last one itself being a compound of four parts. Along with those, the nation has strong diplomatic relations with Just Room Enough island. The nation also has an official Discord server, referred to as the Cyber Reception Room, which can also be looked up, including its entrance. Members there are considered honorary residents.

Head of state/government

The head of state is known publicly as Lady Valentina, or Lady Tynan which is her post-adopted name. As a constitutional demarchy, she has absolute rule within the bounds of the constitution. The constitution will be provided to you if asked, it being the world's most lengthy constitution.

Economy

The nation uses a pay-it-forward based economy rather than a trade-based one. To not pay it forward is equal to theft.
