The Kingdom of Obelska, more commonly known as Obelska, is a micronation in Northern Illinois. The Kingdom of Obelska declared independence from the United States on April 27th, 2021. Its subdivisions are Kapitalprovinz (the location of its capital, Kapital) and Wodtsektion (the larger province). In late December of 2022, Obelska declared war on Baltazaria after it joined Almendria as a state. After winning this war, known as the War of the Micronational Coalition, Obelska established the Provisional Government of Baltazaria (a peacekeeping force/independent state) which then quickly conquered about half of Baltazaria. Obelska then formed an alliance with the Provisional Government.

Obelska has a constitutional monarchy limited by a parliament. The Prince of Obelska is the Head of Parliament until voted out of office, and if voted out, the Prince will not gain the right to the Obelskan throne. The Head of Parliament, as well as the king, can veto laws proposed by the Parliament and suggest new ones. If a law is suggested, a simple majority from the Parliament is needed to pass this law, and if a law is vetoed, a 2/3 majority from the Parliament is needed to pass it.

Obelska treats itself as a macronation in real life but a micronation on the internet. It has several allies, which have all been gained through the internet.

Etymology

(The name "Obelska" is Obelskan for "land of the opal sky", as -a means "land of", Obel means opal, and Skah means sky.)

Obelska's name existed long before the nation did. Its founder and current Prince, Gavin Bhatt, used to refer to the 40 Acre Woods, the largest part of what is now Obelska, as the "Land of the Blue/Opal Sky", which was later translated into Obelskan.

History

The Kingdom of Obelska has been founded after it declared independence from the United States on April 27th, 2021, and has succeeded in a war against Baltazaria in the late December of 2022.

Politics and government

Obelska is a socialist constitutional monarchy with a Parliament. While it was immediately established that Obelska would be a socialist nation upon its formation, the monarchy and Parliament were formed in late 2021 and early 2022, respectively.

Laws and Orders

The OPF (Obelskan Police Force/Obelskan Polzeifürs) is Obelska's main police force. All criminal cases will be brought before the Parliament and/or the monarch.

Military

Obelska's military, the Obelskan Defense Force (Obelskan Dephensfürs), lacks any ranks other than member and general. Its weaponry includes AR-15s, K98Ks, SP5s, and several revolvers and handguns. Its soldiers are also able to quickly and accurately launch pencils using rubber bands.

Geography and climate

Obelska is often warm and rain is not extremely common. It is hilly in many places, and rivers go through several areas in Wodtsektion.

Economy

Obelska rarely exports anything, but imports nearly everything it has from the United States of America.

Culture and media

The Obelskan language is a mixture of many languages, with several words or features borrowed from or based off of words from German, English, French, Hungarian, and even Arabic. It was created before the Kingdom of Obelska was.
