Tawil (Tawilan: طاڤیل), officially the State of Tawil (Tawilan: دۉله طاڤیل; romanised: Dowle Ṭavīl), most commonly known as Bir Tawil (Tawilan: به‌ر طاڤیل; romanised: Ber Ṭavīl) is a micronation located between Egypt and Sudan along with the Halaib Triangle.

History

Tawil is located in Bir Tawil, which has been unclaimed both by Egypt and Sudan as they both focuse on the Halaib Triangle, who Tawil share a border with at the EF Northeast Border Tripoint.

Tawil was originally established on October 10, 2017 by Ehsan Amini and Davood Bazini. Since the nation was founded, they are a semi presidental republic. With the President being head of state and the Prime Minister being the head of government.

In early 2022, a coup d’état started after an attack in Kostos by the Freedom for Tawil Army (FTA), who were designated as a terrorist organisation by the government before. The leader, Mohammed Al-Haydi was captured in May by the Qažkaz (QTGF) and was forced to surrender, he later was arrested and forced to be exile.

Culture

People

The Abada and Bishari are the main groups that live in the area but the majority of the government descend from Iran or Turkey.

Sport

Association football is the most popular sport as well as Mixed martial arts, Rugby union and Beach volleyball.

In football, the top tier league is the Primare Liga (or Horizon Airways Primare Liga for sponsorship purposes) for men and Tawil League Women for women which both have 16 teams. The Tawil national football team is the national team of Tawil and the association is the Tawilite Football Association.

In rugby union, the only league is the Roghbeiy Liga which consists of 6 teams and has no relegation. Tawil have a national rugby union team, who are managed by the Tawilan Rugby Union.
