The Driets Democracy is a form of Direct Democracy that is practiced in Drietsland.

The Realm

The Realm is the land that the King of Drietsland will always have claims on and will be featured in his titles, no matter if he actually does control it or not.

The King

The King is the Head of State and Head of Government. The King can veto proposals from the people if the King dislikes it, though the House may undo the veto and go forth with hosting a referendum. The King can propose his own laws and actions. These are called acts and cannot be vetoed by the House. In case the referendum ends up in a tie, the King is the tiebreaker. The King can appoint ministers if he feels it necessary to do so. Only the King has the right to propose changes to the Constitution.

The State Deputy

The State Deputy is the King's second-in-command. The State Deputy is directly elected by the people. The State Deputy takes over the King's actions if the King is unable to perform actions, though the State Deputy's actions can still get vetoed by the King. The King can delegate powers to the State Deputy however he wants.

The House

The House consists of elected representatives from every duchy in the country. They are elected by district. The House can undo a veto or revise a vetoed proposal and send it back to the King.

The People

The People can send proposals to the King. They also participate in Elections and Referendums. The people can form political parties and run for a seat in the House. They can form and participate in protests and rallies.

The Extrarealms

The Extrarealms are lands outside of the Realm.

Governorship

A Governorship is an Extrarealm Territory led directly by the King. The King gives his orders to the Governor and expects the Governor to fulfill his wishes. The King directly appoints the Governor. Governors can't act on their own unless told to do so.

Margraviate

A Margraviate is an Extrarealm Territory led by a Margrave. The Margrave is a local noble that rules his margraviate without requiring the King's orders. Margraviates can have their own constitutions and systems. The King can give orders to the Margrave, though the Margrave has the right to reject those orders. Margraviates automatically joins every war the overlord is in and can't conduct it's own diplomacy.
