The Unitary Republic of Turisa (Polish:Jednolita Republika Turisy), more commonly Turisa, is a micronation located on Long Island, New York. The nation claims to be the legitimate state of Turisa and was founded on the 18th of November, 2023, against the Peoples Republic of Turisa after an argument took place between President Ford of Turisa and Toaster_Kaiser. It is bordered to the the North East by the Kingdom of TDC and surrounded by the United States on all other borders. It has an estimated population of 3 people. Turisa is organized as a Unitary Federal Republic comprising 1 state and it's capital.
Human presence in Pre-Columbian Turisa goes back to around 12,000 years ago, when the western end of the island was inhabited by the Lenape people.
Turisa's early history as a micronation was very unproductive, as the Republic of Turisa was founded in October of 2020 under the name of 'The Eastern States Republic' and saw no real progress in the nation for around three years. Throughout 2023 many skirmishes and wars took place against a local micronation by the name of Redrin.
Etymology
The name Turisa is derived from the People's Republic of Turisa, however there is no real meaning behind it.
History
The Peoples Republic of Turisa was originally founded as the 'The Eastern States Republic' on the 25th of October, 2020. After around three years of no progress except the renaming of the state to it's current name, Turisa got into multiple conflicts with Redrin, a local micronation. These conflicts took place throughout 2023.
During February of 2023, Turisa allied with the Schpecktenian People's Front in the Two Days War due to similar ideologies. Later after the war ended, Turisa saw another drop in activity and it's president, Ford, eventually resigned and handed the nation over to Ruby Specht I on the 3rd of November, 2023. This saw the Peoples Republic of Turisa be turned into a Schpecktenian puppet republic. However, after Ford got into an argument with toaster_kaiserin, over the banning of a political party in the People Republic of Turisa, it was decided that the Federal Republic of Turisa would be founded in protest. Following this Ruby voided all claims to Turisa and Ford reassumed power. The news was heard by Jason I, who then decided to aid the Federal Republic of Turisa by ceding it land to affirm it's status as an independent micronation.
Throughout its November 2023, the new micronation would have multiple issues with the original People's Republic of Turisa. The People's Republic would not recognize the Federal Republic's sovereignty. The Federal Republic would make province flags, join and leave the Micronational Citadel Alliance, and congratulate Jason I for helping the Federal Republic develop. Things would get more intense upon the Almendrian United Socialist Republics' raids on many micronations, and even the People's Republic joining the USR.
The Federal Republic changed its name to the Unitary Republic of Turisa and Capeland would become a part of Turisa on 16 December 2023. Later that month the Turisan Emergency council, made up of former San Donian officials, adopted the declartion of independence.

Location and borders
What is considered 'mainland Turisa' is located accross the Contiguous United States, with multiple claims along the Northeastern United States and Arkansas. While 'overseas Turisa' is located mainly in Southeast Asia, but also holds claims in Mexico. Its land borders consist of the Kingdom of TDC, the United States, Singapore , Taiwan and Malaysia.

The Unitary Republic of Turisa is divided into 3 autonomous republics, 3 overseas regions and one uninhabited island directly under the authority of the Sovereign of Turisa.

Since the annexation of Capeland on the 16th of December, 2023, Turisa has been divided into multiple semi-autonomous republics that function as state.

Politics and government
Turisa is a unitary republic, meaning the national government has total authority over all of the country's subdivisions. Currently there are 3 regions, divided into 10 departments, 6 of which are overseas. A constitution is currently in the works to establish a functioning government.
Currently there is no legislature to run the country, however it is being worked on.

For now, the foreign relations of Turisa are directed and managed by the Sovereign. The nation is recognized currently by the TDC, Schpecktenia, Capeland, Opstandia, Liveno and Verdana.

Culture
The culture of Turisa is almost the exact same as that of the surrounding United States, with some Polish influence. The most commonly spoken language is English.
