Fight of Gods (occasionally stylized as "神々の戦い" lit. "Battle of the Gods") is a fighting adventure series by Dragon Studio. The first series attempt had two episodes released, though a reboot was made where it got three seasons of fifteen episodes, two specials, and a sequel series. That makes it the longest Dragon Studio project. It was made as a tribute to Dragon Ball.

Overview

Story

Fight of Gods is about a group of fighters (Spirit Fighters "スピリットファイターズ" lit. "Spirit Fitas") that defend the Earth. They often resemble the Z Fighters of the Dragon Ball franchise. Kai is the main character along with Heito. They are rivals that defend the Earth with occasional help.

Hai Hai Arc

The Hai Hai Arc is composed of two Sagas, the Heito Saga consisting of two episodes and the Big Threat Saga consisting of 3 episodes. In the Heito Saga, Kai is found by Heito - a cyborg who wants to fight him - he obliges an opportunity to fight. It's unclear who won, though it is stated that Heito would be stronger, naturally.

After their battle, the two rivals stand side-by-side to face a bigger threat, Hai Hai. Hai Hai is a demon who escaped from a bottle, much like a genie. The two are forced to fight him and in new looks. However, Heito is killed before he gets the chance to finally go all out. This angers Kai, who transforms into his Super Human state and kills Hai Hai.

Later offscreen, Heito is revived.

Chiller Arc

The Chiller Arc is composed of two Sagas, the Planetary Conquest Saga consisting of three episodes, and the Final Fight Saga also consisting of three episodes. In the Planetary Conquest Saga, Heito goes off to face against Chiller - an alien bent on destroying all super humans - who recently got cybernetic implants because it was revealed he would have died had he not done so due to his fight with Kazuma. Heito begins to fight him. They go from fighting on an island where Heito is knocked out, to creating a crater in the middle of a wasteland after he wakes up and gets cybernetic implants of his own. Chiller transforms for the fight in the wasteland. Eventually, they head off into the sky and Chiller transforms again, but Kai find them and begins to help Heito.

In the Final Fight Saga, Kai transforms and goes to create numerous death beams to kill Chiller just like he had done when Heito and Kai first met. This fight is in space. Eventually, Chiller goes into a super golden form, but is still beat by both. Though, offscreen, he is able to defeat Kai. Heito is angered after Chiller reveals that he destroyed the moon - which is later revealed to have been the home satellite of the Super Humans - and Heito transforms into his own Super Human state. He then decimates Chiller, killing him brutally.

After Arc

The After Arc is an arc of one Saga - The Battle To Break Space And Time Saga - of four episodes. In this arc, Kai and Heito decide to have one final fight as true rivals - their only rematch since they first fought. Eventually, Heito surprisingly begins to beat Kai, forcing him to go into his God State when someone new arrives. This mysterious child is Ratana, Kai's son. Ratana is extremely gifted and is able to go into the God State at will, helping his father beat Heito before Kai moves on into the afterlife. This Arc features a filler saga - the first of it's kind - used to introduce Ratana better. Ratana must follow in his father's footsteps as he fights against Hai Hai and Chiller - at the same time.

Specials

There are two Fight of Gods Specials. The Father of Kai is chronologically the first as it goes into a flashback to a decade ago, where Kazuma - Kai's Father - attempts to defeat Chiller before he destroys the moon. He is unable to do so, however, and is killed. This serves as Heito's motivation to kill Chiller. The Superest Super God is a Special / Movie for Fight of Gods. In this special, Kai is transported into the Realm of Gods to fight his father - who is revealed to be a god - to train. Because it's revealed that Kazuma is a God, that means Kai is a DemiGod. Kai and Kazuma fight, sparring, until Kai transforms into his God State and almost kills Kazuma - who was already dead - before being transported back to the realm of the living.

Production

The script work began shortly after the first episode was released. Episode 2 was given a proper script, and eventually Season 1 got all of it's scripts completed. Soon enough, Fight of Gods: Superest Super God! and Fight of Gods: Father of Kai also had their scripts completed before the unnamed sequel series.

After the initial series was cancelled, it was decided to remake the series in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. In one night, two seasons consisting of eleven episodes were made, along with two specials.
