The First Lady of the United Federation (FLOTUF), sometimes the First Lady of Aumarea, is the title commonly held by the wife of the President of the United Federation and is a senior ceremonial office in the United Federation of Aumarea. The office is usually held concurrently with the president's term. She is aided in her duties by the Office of the First Lady which is a sub-office of the Executive Office of the President.
History
The office was established on 3 March 2023 - initially as the office of the spouse of the Continental President and was informally known as the Continental First Lady but after the constitution was ratified the office changed to be the spouse of the President of the United Federation.
Role
The position of the first lady is not an elected one and carries only ceremonial duties. Nonetheless, first ladies have held a highly visible position in Aumarean society. She is, first and foremost, the hostess of the residence of the president and first family - the Presidential Palace. She organises and attends official ceremonies and functions of state either along with, or in place of, the president.
Office
The Office of the First Lady of the United Federation is accountable to the first lady for her to carry out her duties as hostess, and is also in charge of all social and ceremonial events of the presidential palace. The first lady has her own staff that includes a chief of staff, press secretary and social secretary.
The office of the first lady is a branch of the Executive Office of the President.
