John Charles Berman (born 4 June 2004) is a Caminican micronationalist and politician who has served as the 1st President of the Republic of Caminica since 2021. A member of the Progressive Party, Berman is the founder of the Republic of Caminica and began his presidential term upon his appointment at the Sunetta Convention.
Early life and education
John Charles Berman was born on 4 June 2004, in the United States. He moved into a house in what is now the Republic of Caminica in 2011 and has attended school in the area since moving there.
With the founding of the Republic of Caminica in 2021, Berman founded the University of Caminica in Granada, from which he received a bachelor of arts in liberal studies and a doctor of philosophy in political science. Berman was the university's first student and graduate, and he has since been created its honorary president.

Establishment
On 11 May 2021, Berman discovered micronationalism and decided to create his own country. In the excitement of the moment, he drew boundaries in his neighborhood and held the Sunetta Convention at his house. The Sunetta Convention, over which Berman presided, saw the drafting of the country's constitution and the birth of the Republic of Caminica.
Presidency
During the Sunetta Convention, Berman was appointed the country's first president and took office on 11 May 2021. The first actions of his presidency concerned building the foundation of the Republic of Caminica, forming a Congress, and setting the country's first elections for 25 May 2021. He is a candidate (and, to date, the only candidate) in the country's first presidential election.
In his capacity as president, Berman is the head of state and government of the Republic of Caminica, the commander-in-chief of the Caminican Armed Forces, the chief diplomat and sole ambassador of the Republic of Caminica, and the keeper and protector of the republic's seal and constitution.
Personal life
Berman is unmarried and does not have any children. He resides in the Presidential Chambers in the District of Sunetta.
Berman is a lifelong atheist and has disavowed religion his entire life. He is also openly bisexual and first came out in 2019.
Berman has been a registered voter in Wagusta and a registered member of the Progressive Party since the founding of the Republic of Caminica. The Progressive Party, which Berman founded, is the only political party in the Republic of Caminica. Though Berman is a Caminican citizen, he chose to retain his American citizenship.
