Micronational Peace Alliance r/micronations

Justice4Romersk was a campaign started by the early Micronational Peace Alliance in a series of protests to forgive the leader of Romersk, Nefarious, for leading another controversial micronation Germania. Germania was a micronation controversial due to many aspects of itself being comparable with Imperial and Nazi Germany. Nefarious, still leading Germania at the time, decided to move to r/micronation seeing that it had caused drama in r/micronations. For a reason only partially known (speculated to be ban evasion, Nefarious' account was banned sitewide off Reddit. Nefarious rebranded into Romersk, which was eventually self-exposed to be Germania, and promptly banned, causing a series of protests against r/micronations.

Background

Germania was a micronation that caused a stir in r/micronations by displaying artifacts of their micronation that were similar in style to Imperial and Nazi Germany. Germania was a very restrictive country, limiting religion and viewpoints. Germania dissolved unexpectedly after their founder, Nefarious', main account was banned completely off Reddit, beginning the Scramble for Germania. The Scramble for Germania was a rush to claim territory belonging to Germania as colonies. The colonies were eventually withdrawn. Romersk was founded on 12 August 2022, announcing the foundation to all of r/micronations, including their flag. The flag of Romersk included a cross and wolf symbol on the hoist. This caused controversy, whereas the flag had a similar structure to that of Nazi Germany. For some time, Romersk remained a regular micronation, until they admitted they were Germania.

Beginning of the conflict

Romersk's announcement was backed by the MPA, who continued to back him throughout the span of the conflict, saying that Nefarious had changed. Upon seeing the announcement and prompt admission of guilt from Nefarious, r/micronations mods took it to themselves to ban Nefarious. The MPA began to condemn the actions of the mods, until they decided to launch a protest.

Protest

In August, several member nations of the Micronational Peace Alliance began protesting under Joseph Baker's hashtag, "#Justice4Romersk". r/micronations mods took notice, and decided to start to ban people who were protesting. This included many active people within the community, like Cronic and Paxaris-Terredepaix. After everybody who protested was banned, r/micronations mods released a statement accusing the protesters of "brigading", though the protesting parties vehemently denied it was brigading, due to the fact it was a peaceful protest.

Aftermath and creation of r/freemicronations

After the Great r/micronations Purge, Xander Mintz of Paxaris created r/freemicronations in a similar namesake to "Free France" of the Second World War. It fell out of activity because after the protest the banned parties began posting their micronationalist endeavors on r/micronation.
