The Kingdom of the Local Anthill is a micronation in Jasień, a district of Gdańsk, claiming a 25-square-metre stretch of land under- and on the ground at the Jasień Anthill. It is ruled by an absolute dual monarchy, currently controlled by King of the People Charles I and Queen of the Ants Antiocha I. The anthill which it lies upon was built around the 1950s at a now nonexistent proving ground and has grown larger since. The King, Charles I, established the new kingdom during his first contact with and befriending of the local ant community on 20 May 2022.
History
The anthill was founded at a proving ground in Jasień around the 1950s, probably emerging from a defensive position used for these types of trainings or a World War II-era bunker. Proof can be seen down the path from the anthill, where more trench-like structures are seen. It remained mostly untouched and under the rule of short-lived monarchs for over than half a century until local explorer Charles stumbled upon the structure in 2022.
Charles instantly became interested in the anthill and proclaimed the Kingdom of the Local Anthill first as a joke, but eventually announced the nation on the Internet and claimed the anthill itself instead of continuing other micronational hobbies of his.
Government and politics
The Kingdom of the Local Anthill is an absolute diarchy, or dual monarchy, shared by the King of the People (currently Charles I) and the Queen of the Ants (currently Antiocha). The role of the King of the People is passed down through male primogeniture, while the holder of the office of the Queen of the Ants is chosen through combat between the chosen children of the Queen.
The Queen herself does not hold much power across the Kingdom except for her supremely important role of procreating with male ants to produce new worker ants and queen candidates. Otherwise, the worker ants have organized a structurally sound system. Charles I, on the other hand, has power over the territory over the ground and leads most, if not all expeditions and colonization.
