Knuffeldierland

The Micronate of the Principality of Newer Eiffel, the Bedroom Nation — the State of Plüschtiere (Knuffeldierland), known colloquially as Newer Eiffel or nationally as Knuffeldierland, is a purported humorous, simulationist recreational micronation—a bedroom nation and plush nation—located in the upstairs London bedroom of Zabëlle Skye. Established on 1 September 2023, it has over 60 citizens, all of whom are stuffed toys (plushies). Despite its name, the micronation is a presidential republic, with plushies holding positions in government and being able to run and vote in elections.

Enclaved within Knuffeldierland is a nanonation—the Divine Sovereign Animist Micronate of Newest Eiffel, which was proclaimed on 29 February 2024 to mark the leap year. Newest Eiffel, dedicated to Animism, claims a makeshift shelf west of Ruhiger-Ort Province. Its most important structure is a small singing bowl. On 24 March, Knuffeldierland founded the United Nanonations (UN), an intermicronational organisation that's membership is excluded to nanonations. On 16 April, Knuffeldierland laid claim to the former territory of mainland New Eiffel (save for the territory of Knuffeldierland itself), designating the area as the unincorporated State of Old Eiffel.

Name

The name was conceived by Zabëlle Skye to be as unnecessarily elongated as possible. He took inspiration from a prior micronation attempt by him, "Harmonia, the Forest Nation — the State of Vrede", which he conceived on 24 May 2023. Harmonia's lengthy name was in-turn inspired by the unrecognised macronational state of the Republic of South Ossetia – the State of Alania, which was named as such in a referendum in April 2017. The "Principality of Newer Eiffel" references the erstwhile Principality of New Eiffel that Skye founded that existed between 11 August 2018 and 1 November 2020. The State of Plüschtiere is the only state (province) of Knuffeldierland, which thus constitutes the entirety of the micronation. Plüschtiere is the German word for "plush toys", and Knuffeldierland is Dutch for "plush toy land"—essentially intended as the de facto common name for the micronation.
