"Micrononstate" is a term coined by Micronationalist Elijah M. The term refers to a Micronation with no government, or state. These Micronations have historically fallen under the terms "Anarcho-Capitalist", "Voluntarist", "Individualist Anarchist", or "Autarchist". They are patches of autonomous land distinct from any government-like organizations that exist on top of them, so the term regards the land itself rather than the political attributes of the community on it. The first recorded Micrononstate was the Mack Republic. As most Micronations are voluntary, many can be considered unknowing Micrononstates.

Micrononstates are differentiated from other anarchist practices in that they have a defined small size, and have a government-like, but voluntary organization present in the area. Many will look like any other Micronation in Practice.

By definition, Micrononstates are on the Secessionist side of the Secessionism-Simulationism spectrum. The individuals involved, as Libertarians and Anarchists, view themselves as autonomous individuals and view their voluntary governments as autonomous groups of individuals. The lands they claim, even if they contain individuals who do not know of the nation, are thereby legitimate claims as they do not enforce the government on anyone, and only follow it with a certain boundary.

Examples

Anacapa, Mack Republic, and (for a period of time) the defunct Principality of New Eiffel, are some of the best examples of Micrononstates
