The monarchy of Granby, commonly referred to as the Granbian monarchy, is the constitutional monarchy of Granby. The current monarch and head of state, Mark, created, and ascended to the throne 27 March 2024.

The monarch and the royal family undertake various official, ceremonial, diplomatic and representational duties. As the monarchy is constitutional, the monarch is limited to non-partisan functions such as bestowing honours and appointing the Prime Minister. The monarch is Commander-in-Chief of the Granbian Armed Forces. Though the ultimate formal executive authority over the government of Granby is still by and through the monarch's royal prerogative, these powers may only be used according to laws enacted in Parliament and, in practice, within the constraints of convention and precedent.

Powers and duties

The monarch has:

  • The power to appoint government officials
  • The power to vest/appoint titles of nobility
  • The power to dissolve parliament
  • The power to declare war
  • The power to command the Armed Forces
  • The power to veto laws
  • The power to issue passports
  • The power to declare general elections
  • The power to veto government decisions
  • The power to enact decrees
  • The power to enact orders-in-council of the Privy Council

The monarch has more duties than this; listed here are important powers and duties of the monarch.
