The Monarchy of the Gronean Empire, sometimes known as the Gronean Monarchy or internally as the Imperial Monarchy, is the head of state, sovereign and hereditary federal ruler of the Gronean Empire. The monarchy is vested with executive power and is semi-constitutional.
The current monarch is Emperor Colin I, who assumed the throne on its foundation on 6 September 2023.
History
The imperial monarchy of Gronea is the oldest federal institution in the empire. It was de facto established before the constitution and then officially and de jure formed by the constitution's ratification - being de jure and de facto established on 6 September 2023.
After foundation, Colin I assumed the throne as emperor.
Powers and Duties
The imperial monarchy is semi-constitutional and is vested with executive powers over the empire by the constitution.
The monarch's powers and duties include:
- Declare war and make peace,
- Represent Gronea abroad,
- Conclude treaties and alliances,
- Accredit and receive ambassadors,
- Convene and dissolve the federal parliament,
- Execute and publish imperial laws,
- Appoint and dismiss imperial officials,
- Commander-in-chief of the armed forces,
With the countersignature of the Chancellor of Gronea, the imperial monarch can also pass decrees.
Succession
Currently, there aren't any formally defined methods of succession to the imperial throne. The only currently defined things about the monarchy's succession is that the monarchy is hereditary and the imperial monarch should also always be the King or Queen of Bensia - Gronea's largest state.
The basis for the imperial monarch also being Bensia's monarch is because the imperial constitution gives the "Presidency of the Empire" to the monarch of Bensia, so therefore to be the Emperor or Empress one must also be the King or Queen of Bensia.
