The Nova-Occitania presidential election, July 2019 was the first presidential election since the re-fondation of Occitania. The only candidate, Babou Chkaya was elected.

Background

The election was called by the Constitutional Commission by a decree of 1 July 2019. It takes place at the same time as the legislative election, local elections and the constitutional referendum. Therefore, if the constitutional referendum is not approved, this election will have a poll declared as invalid, insofar as its result is conditional on the application of the new constitution.

Electoral system

The poll is organized in a single round, the candidate with the largest number of votes is elected President of the Union.
