PaLsia (/pælz'ɪə), official known as the PaLsian Federation is a self-declared autonomous sovereign state, or a micronation, located entirely within the United Kingdom, with territories mostly spread throughout the county of Gloucestershire, it is a federal, parliamentary, constitutional monarchy, the monarch being the Supreme Chancellor. The nation declared its independence from the United Kingdom on June 1, 2017, as the PaLsian Republic, which reformed into the PaLsian Federation. PaLsia consists of nine states, all located within the county of Gloucestershire, they are named according to their geographical location, and relevance, within the county. as of 2021, PaLsia has 101 members, with roughly 9 of them located within the nation's territories.
PaLsia has been a member, and founder, of the Reformed Intermicronational Confederation since July 3, 2019.
Etymology
The name "PaLsia" is composed of two parts: "PaLs" and "-ia". The term PaLs comes from the nations founding organisation, which in itself got it's name after the globalisation of former group LapisArmy People and LapisArmy society. Ia comes from the latin term for "land of" PaLsia being the "land of the PaLs".
A citizen of PaLsia is commonly referred as a "PaLsian", and less commonly referred as a "PaL"
History
Prehistory
LapisArmy period
Prior to PaLsia, and PaLs, a small private group known as LapisArmy was formed in 2013 with the goal to push an ideology throughout the county of Gloucestershire, as well as create a social space for close friends. The group consisted of around 10 members spread across the county, and was famously known for it's activity within gaming, specifically minecraft. As time went on the group slowly dissolved, and was almost replaced, however it was decided that the group would open itself to the public, and on December 30, 2016, PaLs was formed with the goal to expand, and spread it's awareness physically, and digitally.
Very early Republic period (2017)
The idea to create a micronation was first thought up on a minecraft factions server when the faction "PaLsia" was created. A banner was designed which soon became an early prototype of the official PaLs flag, however a finalised design was established soon after which is still in use today, although it featured red instead of blue. The nation of PaLsia was founded on June 1, 2017 as the Republic of PaLsia. Supreme Chancellor Samuel Marsden introduced a basic constitution for PaLsia, which protected the basic human rights of it's people, and helped secure general laws for the government. PaLsia wanted to put it's people ahead of anything else, and so established it's first party, the communist party.
On October 31, 2017, the PaLsian government decided to hold it's first election to establish what the people wanted at the time. November 1, 2017 the election was closed and the results came back with a communist win. During the parties reign, the premier kept stepping down from their position, causing imbalance in government, because of this, the government faced a fascist revolt led by a small group of people in order to overthrow, and take control of the government. On November 15, 2017 however, the PaLsian Republic faced it's first reformation in order to take control of it's people again, the PaLsian Republic became the PaLsian Federation, and the leading party was swapped from a far left communist party, to a more central, democratic party. The flag was also changed to replace the red, with blue, creating the flag currently in use. The government was also reformed to create the "central government" made up of state governors Yobi's and party representatives, with Supreme Chancellor Samuel Marsden remaining as the head of state.
Federation development period (2018-2019)
The development period of the federation could also be referred to as PaLsia's "golden age" as this was when it was at it's most active, and most peaceful stage in history, and it remained this way until it's second reformation on June 2, 2019.
On January 8, 2018, PaLsia joined the League of Micronations now the Reformed Intermicronational Confederation as a full member state, this helped boost PaLsian recognition within the micronational community, as well as help form close ties with other nations.
On January 11, 2018, the government formed a plan to take control of it's citizens after a revolution occurred days before, the plan was executed on January 15, 2018, under the code name 'Liberia', and it resulted in the first PaLsian members to be banished from the nation. Two weeks later, the banishment was lifted.
On March 1, 2018, the PaLsian Union was created to secure relationships internally, and internationally. It was first created between the PaLsian Federation, and the state of Bintaria, soon after it saw New Emersonac City, and the nation of Stenall and Tyleria, join the Union.
On March 5, 2018, the government discussed the idea of implementing an election system into PaLsia again, a vote was passed through, and all were in favour for a party election system to take place. The election was held on April 1, 2018, and ended on April 2, 2018. Numerous elections were held roughly every month after this date, until June 2, 2019.
During June of 2018, PaLsia decided to make hand tennis the national sport of the nation. Similarly to volleyball, you're meant to hit the ball with your hand, it uses the same rules as tennis, however it is advised to play on a smaller court, with a lower net, it is also advised to wear gloves during matches, to avoid damaging the palm of your hand.
Between June of 2018, and June of 2019, PaLsia went through a silent, peaceful phase of history, elections were held frequently and dealt with accordingly, PaLsia's online operations were functional, and diplomacy was at an all time high. This was until around June of 2019, where an imbalance of power occurred within the central government, which affected how the government was run, and almost breached national security. These events resulted in a second reformation of the nation, which sought to change who was in position of power, as well as document it's first census towards the end of 2019, which saw 70 out of the 119 former members still recognise themselves as PaLsian.
Organisation period (2020-present)
PaLsia's government was affected by the COVID-19 outbreak immensely. As the nation adopted the COVID-19 restrictions set by the United Kingdom, it meant that members could not meet and discuss, which resulted in a numerous amount of departures from government officials, which resulted in an imbalance of power within the nation. Because of this, throughout most of 2020 PaLsia saw a steady decline in activity, and commitment from it's members, which almost led to the abolishment of the nation entirely. However, this changed in 2021 when the nation's online presence was official changed to resemble more of an "organisation" which saw an increase in usage, and commitment. Although PaLsia's presence is still notable online through articles, websites, and micronational organisations, it's official online 'hub' has changed from being a governed entity, to more a welcoming organisation. The nations influence and presence is still notable throughout it's online community, however it is no longer enforced upon it.
On June 17th 2021, the PaLsian Federation left the Reformed Intermicronational Confederation after 4 years of membership due to dissolution. The PaLsian Federation was a founding member of the League of Micronations, and saw it's involvement in the organisation increase as it grew. PaLsia was involved in the formation of the new Reformed Intermicronational Confederation after instability and eventually the collapse of the League of Micronations in 2019, taking on positions such as Vice President during the First Administration, and Chief of Justice during the Provisional Administration.
On February 25th 2022, the PaLsian Federation/Organisation condemns Vladimir Putin for the recent invasion of Ukraine, stating that "The actions committed by Vladimir Putin on Ukraine are reckless, criminal, and unjustifiable. And PaLsia will be quick to show Ukraine it's support where it can" PaLsia was quick to show it's support through social media, along with sending monetary aid to Ukrainian refugees and military support charities. PaLsia expresses it's support towards Ukrainian citizens, and micro-nationalists, and has reassured PaLsian associates either living in, or from Ukraine, that it is here to support them.
Government
Sectors
The PaLsian government is split into three sectors based on their power and influence over the nation. The three sectors are:
- Head of State: This is made up of the supreme chancellor only, laws and bills can only pass if they're consulted with the supreme chancellor, and accepted by them, the position of supreme chancellor is only handed over if the current holder resigns, or passes away.
- The Senate: This is made up of party representatives elected nationally during elections, they create national laws, can declare war, approve treaties, and they can also impeach members of the central government apart from the head of state.
- State governors: This is made up of the State Yobi's head of state of PaLsia who are elected by people of their region to represent their region in central government. They can create state laws, and usually deal with internal issues. They are also automatically assigned to the round table of Yobi's where the supreme chancellor meets with the state governors to discuss issues within states.
Military
The PaLsian military is split into five different sectors, and serve a different purpose within the nation. The five sectors are:
The Army: This is the nations fighting force on land, used to protect the nation from land intruders.
The Navy: This is the fighting force on the marine, used to protect the nation from marine intruders.
The Air Force: This is the fighting force in the air, used to protect the nation from air intruders, and also used to satellite the region.
The Boarder Guard: This is the protective force on international land boarders.
The Coast Guard: This is the protective force on international marine boarders.
The purpose of the military is to defend and protect the state, and it's citizens. Each sector is led by a Yobi leader, which all come under the Secretary of the Military.
The flags all represent their sectors through symbols. The army and the board guard use a horizontal tri-colour design which is used to represent the land in which they protect and defend. meanwhile the rest use the PaLsian flag, with their respected symbols in the bottom right.

European is the largest racial group in PaLsia. The largest European ethnic group is English, followed on by German. Although we know the total population, it is still unknown what racial group 23 people belong to.
Religion
PaLsia does not have a national religion, and it is unknown what the religious stance of majority of the population is. However citizens have the rights to freely practice religious exercises.

Landmarks
Due to PaLsia's small land occupation, there are no notable physical landmarks within the nation. However, PaLsia considers it's online presence, specifically it's Minecraft Server, to be a national treasure, with a numerous amount of landmarks to explore and visit digitally. because of PaLsia's online presence, PaLsian landmarks are frequently visited and admired, due to it's easy access, when opened to the public.
Museums
Although PaLsia doesn't have an official museum building, it does house numerous collections and artifacts from different Era's of history, most notably British history.
PaLsia houses a large coin collection, which features international coins, modern coins, and old coins. The most notable collections are the modern British 50p coin collection, as well as the old coin collection, which consists of old Soviet coins, coins used before the switch to the Euro, and old British coins. PaLsia also houses a large stamp collection, mainly from the 1970's-2000's. Although the collection consists mostly of Royal Mail stamps, there are also international stamps, the most notable being from Taiwan, and the Vatican City.
PaLsia also houses a large rock and mineral collection, the most famous collection being it's volcanic rock collection, which includes volcanic rock from Hawaii, Madiera, and Iceland. It's mineral collection also consists of quartz, obsidian, and pyrite.
PaLsia holds large internet archives due to its online presence, and it's dedication to protect and reserve national data. This includes archived game servers, with map data saved and accessible today, as well as archived messages, images, and videos.

The region of PaLsia is split into states, overseas territories, and a dominion. as of 2021, the nation currently possesses nine states, four overseas territories, and one dominion. The dominion being located within the PaLsian state of Tewkesbury.

Flag
The PaLsian federation's flag was designed as a combination of the Sealand flag, along with the Nordic cross. The Nordic cross was used due to the northern heritage of the founding family, and is used to represent the union between LapisArmy, and the outside community. The Sealand flag is used to reinforce the nations micronational status, the two coloured diagonal sections represent the people groups, blue being LapisArmy, and grey being the outside people.
The flag used for PaLsia Sealand was an early prototype of the current PaLsia flag, but it was adjusted to make the flag look more "aligned".
Currency
The official currencies of the PaLsian Federation are pound sterling (GBP) and the PaLsian pound (PFP).
Although the pound sterling is the major currency of The PaLsian Federation, the PaLsian pound sign £; code PFP; is the official and national currency of the nation. The currency uses decimalised numbers similar to the modern day pound sterling, those being 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1, £2, £5, £10, £20 and £50. A singular PaLsian pound is made up if 100 PaLsian pennies 1p.
