The People's Republic of Long Island (PRLI) was a short lived micronation located in the State of New York. The PRLI declared independence from the Republic of Long Island during The Crisis of August. The micronation was reincorporated back into the RLI in December 2020.
History
The People's Republic of Long Island was founded in August 2020. The exact date of creation is unknown as President Luci of the Republic of Long Island purged all official records the PRLI held. The micronation was founded after the RLI implemented a number of right wing social policies and President L consolidated his power in the micronation. The RLI also allied itself with an openly fascist micronation, which displeased the future separatists of the PRLI. Four separatists, who became known as the Council of Four in their micronation, seceded from the RLI and started the Crisis of August.
Separation from the RLI
The Council of Four separated from the RLI in August and engaged in a war with the republic, trolling and defacing President L and his microwiki pages. The two nations verbally sparred on Twitter, with a number of micronationalists getting involved and taking sides with both nations. President Luci was convinced by a micronational leader to hold talks with the Council of Four, and did, agreeing to allow them to separate from the republic if they undid the vandalism they had inflicted onto his Micronations Fandom website page. They did, and with that they became their own country. The two nations then signed a mutual recognition treaty and agreed to aid each other, the RLI with the PRLI's establishment and the PRLI with the RLI's intermicronational relations.
Post RLI separation
Following the succession of the PRLI, the people's republic would enter a state of almost immediate stagnation and decline. There was no real foundation for a country in the PRLI. The Council of Four were unanimous, and didn't know each other's real names. They didn't know the area the others lived in and couldn't effectively communicate with each other. While the Republic of Long Island had promised to help the PRLI with establishing itself, Luci backed out of the promise, allowing the people's republic to flounder in its own chaos.

For the five or so months the People's Republic of Long Island existed, it didn't do much. It never established relations with other micronations and never gained citizens that weren't also part of the Republic of Long Island, and even then those citizens flowed in and out of the country, making their citizenship at most only four for certain. Radical and moderate leftist ideas clashed, and with the future of the micronation unknown they decided to rejoin the RLI in December 2020. This was to be only if the RLI met certain conditions, such as no longer associating with fascist micronations and becoming progressive. By that point, Luci had begun to venture into liberal and leftist politics and the Council of Four found him and the RLI to be more palatable than how it was when they left. The people's republic ceased to exist past December 2020.
