Souvin, officially the Republic of Souvin, is an island nation located in the Gulf of Mexico the eastern doughnut hole which fulfils the requirements of a de facto and de jure sovereign state, but is recognised internationally only as a micronation. It was founded on 28 August 2021. Its Exclusive Economic Zone also borders the [[w:Exclusive_economic_zone_of_Mexico Exclusive Economic Zones of Mexico], United States, and [1]]. As Cuba is a communist state, the government urges caution boating near Cuba in Cuba's Exclusive Economic Zone.

The system of government in place is a democratic oligarchy. At the top level, there are 7 elected officials. The government is also split into different departments, and each department also has 7 elected officials running them.

Tourism and Visas[1]

Tourism is the primary industry in Souvin, and a large number of individuals in Souvin are tourists. Souvin is the only nation that does not require a passport for entry. Anyone can enter Souvin using a number of identification methods from around the world that have been approved by the government. Visas are not required for non-work tourism shorter than 90 days.

The following is a list of all visas that can be applied for.

Extended Tourism Visa

This visa is subject to regular non-visa tourism rules and regulations, but the time one can stay in the country is 180 days, rather than 90 days. This is for those who want to explore the entire country or stay a little longer.. It is slightly harder to obtain this visa, and applications may take around 14 days to be received. This can be applied for online, and the visa paper will be sent via mail. You may not request a visa extension.

Crisis Visa

This visa is for those who need to stay in the country for longer than 90 days due to a crisis such as medical issues (for both the person experiencing medical issues and immediate family members that would like to stay with that person.) If the crisis is expected to last less than 90 days, no visa is required. With this visa, you may stay and live in Souvin for as long as the crisis persists, with a 1 week buffer. These visas are prioritised and will be read as soon as possible. Once accepted, this visa will not be mailed and can be claimed at the border entry.

Refugee Visa

This visa is for refugees of dangerous countries that have not yet obtained citizenship. This visa allows the person to stay in Souvin for up to 6 months. This visa is usually granted on arrival for refugees who have sailed from (usually Cuba) dangerous countries. This is so they have legal permission to be in Souvin, and once this visa is obtained, a citizenship request under refugee status is usually filled out and sent. If the citizenship request under refugee status is denied, the visa is revoked and in most cases the person will be deported to their home country or another country that is safe for them that will accept them. This visa may not be applied for online or by mail. This visa is only warranted on arrival of a refugee.

Work Visa

This visa is granted to foreign nationals that need to work in Souvin. This grants them the right to work in Souvin. This visa must be applied for online by the company on behalf of the person that needs the visa. The visa validity begins 2 weeks before the starting date of the job, and ends 2 weeks after the person has left or been dismissed from their job. If the individual finds another job during the 2 week buffer after they have been dismissed or have quit their job, then their visa is re-validated. If they find a job after the 2 week buffer they must reapply for the work visa. If the person does wish to stay a little longer after their work visa has expired as a tourist then they must notify DCI that they are staying longer as a tourist.

Work Visa Associate

This visa is granted to individuals travelling with someone who has a work visa. This visa may only be granted to the spouse and children. In some cases, this visa may be given to others that must accompany the person with the work visa. The visa is valid for as long as the original individual who is working's visa is valid. People who have this visa cannot work in Sovin, and another Work Visa application will need to be applied for. A valid reason for why the person is coming must be provided.

Etymology

The name "Souvin" comes from the french word "Souverain", meaning sovereign. This name transcludes the "era" from the word.

Souvin claims territory over the Eastern Doughnut Hole located in the Gulf of Mexico. This area of water is not sovereign to any existing nation and by international law is free and unused land. Although there is no land located in the Eastern Doughnut Hole, the government plans to build a man-made island located in the region.

Economy

Souvin's main source of income and immigration is from tourists. To make life easier, most or all businesses in Souvin will accept the United States Dollar (USD) as many tourists are from the US. Officially, the government uses the United States Dollar because of how stable the currency is.[3] Unlike many other countries, the Republic of Souvin does not have its own currency.
