The Secretary of State for Culture, commonly known as the Culture Secretary, is a minister of the crown in the Government of Fatrea. They have overall responsibility for the Ministry of Culture and are a member of the cabinet.

The corresponding member of the shadow cabinet is the shadow secretary of state for culture.

The office is currently vacant.

History

The role of culture secretary was established on 15 February 2024. The office was created as part of the formation of the government, in order to help create and preserve a unique cultural identity for Fatrea.

Appointment

Like other cabinet ministers, the culture secretary is appointed by the monarch. The appointment is done on the advice and nomination of the prime minister. The officeholder is constitutionally required to be a member of one of the houses of parliament. As a secretary of state, it is expected the officeholder will be appointed from the House of Commons - like other senior members of the government.
