The Colony of Slaifchak is a colony of the Baustralian Empire, founded and governed by the Marquess of Ottawa. The Act of Parliament creating the colony on the lands of the Marquess, previously deemed a citizen of Pittsburgh county, was granted royal assent on 3 September 2023, and defined the territorial boundaries, flag, and arms of the colony.
The royal arms as proposed by the Marquess of Ottawa were modified by the Gadus Principal King of Arms, severing the saltire from the lion charge. This change was somewhat approved by the Earl Marshal, who further recommended the saltire be blue on white, while the main portion of the shield be gold. After input from the Marquess, the gold was returned to the saltire, while remaining the main colour for the shield.
While the Marquess preferred a per fess division, resulting in the shield being divided into equal halves, the College of Arms approved the design with a chief division, resulting in the shield being divided into one-quarter, and three-quarter heights.
