League business

On 5 March 2023, one day before the March-April season was slated to begin, President Ali Farrokhzad announced that the season would be canceled. He announced later that the MHL was looking to change from a closed league to an open league, and wanted to add six new clubs in three new leagues, the United Microleague in Tier 2, Georgienstine Extraleague in Tier 3, and Excelsior Bundesliga in Tier 3, with promotion and relegation between the tiers. Ultimately, only two clubs were added, the Riel Island Sounders on 6 March and Salem Thunder on 7 March, who were both added to the UML, and the Tier 3 leagues would be inactive until more clubs are added.

In order to equalise the number of teams between the MHL and UML, a round-robin tournament was held between 9 and 13 March 2023, between the 3 active clubs that did not make the February playoffs (Augustine Yetis, Excelsior Red Star, Salem Spartans) and the two clubs who were set to join the MHL during the March-April season (New Brooklyn Roughriders, Oranmore Scouts). The top team would stay in the MHL, and the other four clubs would be relegated to the UML. The New Brooklyn Roughriders ended on top of the round-robin, and the other four were relegated.
