Sir Stanley Wu Ming-yang (Chinese: 吳明揚; born 9 April 1992), is a Dong Pingese politician who was the first Prime Minister of Dong Ping from 15 June 2015 to 22 August 2017, as Minister of Foreign Affairs and leader of the Conservative Party. He was a notable campaigner for Dong Ping's self-government, and is recognised as the country's founding father.
Early life
Wu was born in Manchester, United Kingdom to Chinese migrant parents on 9 April 1992. He suffered from asthma attacks as a child, therefore he is unable to live in China where there is severe air pollution. Prior to his asthma, his parents resided permanently in Manchester where Wu was born and raised. Wu and his parents became British citizens in 1997. He learned English as well as Chinese throughout his childhood and spoke both languages fluently.
In later years, Wu became deeply interested in British politics; he supported the Conservative Party. In 2009, he studied politics at college and took part in political debates.
Dong Ping independence
On 15 June 2015, Dong Ping declared its independence and Wu established the Commonwealth of Dong Ping and proclaimed it a British Dominion, although the newly established country did not receive any recognition from the United Kingdom.
In 2017, Dong Ping ceased to be a Dominion, confirming that the United Kingdom will not recognise Dong Ping. Stanley Wu became the country's first Prime Minister.
Prime Minister, post-independence (2015–present)
In Dong Ping's first national elections held on 15 June 2015, the Conservative Party won 26 of the 47 seats in the House of Commons, and Wu became the first Prime Minister of Dong Ping on 15 June 2015. Following his defeat in the Dong Ping general election, 2017, he was succeeded by Chao Kuang-hwa as Prime Minister.
