Swamp region is one of the 6 regions of the Hilbertian Republic, and spans an area of around 310 m2. It is the newest region in the country, being only part of Hilbertia since August 23, 2021. The Hilbertian government wanted this land for a long time. Hilbertia was claiming this land for some time until this claim was dropped to prevent misunderstandings and other problems. However, in May 2021, the Hilbertian government started negotiating with the owner of this land, the result of which was the purchase of this land. On July 23, 2021, the Hilbertian government became the owner of this land and it became a full part of Hilbertia on August 23, 2021. The purchased area was divided between the Swamp region and the Upper Plains region.

Geography and nature

The soil in the Swamp Region is very moist, and unstable in some areas. It was discovered that the soil is very rich in clay, which had been mined and purified in the winter of 2019/2020. There are several fruit trees that were planted here before the land was bought by Hilbertia, as well as other yet unidentified plants. There is also a well in the Swamp Region making it the third and highest placed well in Hilbertia. The Swamp Region also contains the Kiwi National Park, which was created after the region became part of Hilbertia, so it is often associated with the Swamp Region, even though the largest portion of the park lies in the Upper Plains region.

Kiwi National Park

Kiwi national park is the largest national park in Hilbertia. There was a plan to create 3 national parks in the area, but they were merged later. It spans 3 regions (Upper Plains, Central, Swamp), and consists of 2 parts (Lower Kiwi and Upper Kiwi). The park contains the former highest natural point of Hilbertia, point Kiwi, which is how the park got its name. There are many types of plants, trees, weeds, and insects, but most of them are yet to be identified.

Some known plants include Cattail (one of the national plants), Cherry trees, Wild bramble, and many types of flowers. Some known animals and insects include the Wasp spider, many types of butterflies, Eurasian Jay, European Goldfinch, several types of woodpeckers, and many more.

The park is not maintained in any way and it is banned to do certain activities such as cutting grass. There is however one path through the park connecting the Upper Plains, Central, and Swamp regions, as the park lies on the border of these regions, which is regularly maintained during the Winter, Spring, and Autumn. There are no paths through the park during summer due to lush vegetation, and it forms a physical border between the Swamp region and Central region.
