The referendum on the restoration of the monarchy in Mondstadt in 2018

A referendum on the future of Victorialand was held in the Grand Duchy of Mondstadt from 18 September to 5 October 2018. Grand Duke Haruko proposed the referendum in his speech. before Parliament on 15 January 2018. The draft constitutional amendments and future decisions of Victorialand were submitted to a referendum in accordance with Article 2 of the Constitutional Amendment Act. The referendum is legally known as the "all-Mondstadt vote"

Until 2007, Mondstadt was a Grand Duchy ruled by the House of Baroque, reigning royal house of Mondstadt since the national unification in 1861 and previously rulers of the Duchy of Baroque. However, in 2016 the rise of Makabe Masamune and the creation of the fascist regime, which eventually resulted in engaging Mondstadt in October liberian war alongside Social Republic of Victorialand, considerably weakened the role of the monarchy.


Following a Victorialand war and the Liberation of Mondstadt from Victorialand troops in 2018, a popular referendum on the institutional form of the state was called referendum on independence the October, 2018 and resulted in voters choosing the replacement of the Social Republic with a Monarchy. A Constituent Assembly was elected on the same day. As with the simultaneous Constituent Assembly elections, the referendum was not held in the Victorialand, which were still under occupation by Allied forces pending a final settlement of the status of the territories.
