Tumane sermon (Serbian : Туманска проповед) is the most famous public presentation by Philip. In that sermon, he presented various moral principles and advised his peers on how to behave in a strange time.

Components

Moral rules

Do to others what you want others to do to you.

There must always be scissors for the tongue. Cut the malice with those scissors and leave the words of God's will in it.

Show true love to a man and make friends if you really want to, and if you don't want to, it's better not to approach him, because you can humiliate him or make him sad.

If a man is good to you, return his kindness, and don't treat him like a puppy.

You can't solve anything with your hand, but with the mind that comes out of your mouth.

Beauty remains for sympathy, but it is more important to see what is in his/her mind

If you hang out with people for the sake of your own fame or because they are famous and special, better step aside.

Don't tempt your friends.

Don't gossip.

Do not create another face for yourself, because that is the temptation of the devil.

— Slavoslov, 6:1-10

The gossipers

If someone gossips about you, he will swim in his mud, and you will wash yourself with water from God's spring

— Slavoslov, 6:18

Non-acceptance of Philip

God gave us the freedom to search for the truth ourselves,

but the Truth is one, it is salvation through My name.

And whoever does not acknowledge Me, will not suffer on earth, but will suffer after earthly life.

— Slavoslov, 6:21-23

Real values

A man's complete happiness is not going out to the club, smoking, drinking, overeating, but praying to God, fasting and going to the Liturgy.

— Slavoslov, 6:29

Rules of society

Receive everyone who approaches you, no matter what class they belong to or what interests they have, because we are all the same before the Lord.

Do not approach people if you want more attention or a better place in your company, because the person you approach may put you down, and you can put him down too when he realizes what your intentions are. In addition to family, the greatest happiness among people is in friends.

There is time for girls and for achieving goals, the most important thing is to enjoy yourself among everyone, to love those who hate and slander you, and to only do good to people, regardless of how they will repay you.

If he slaps you once, take another, hero, because kindness will heal your wounds.

— Slavoslov, 6:33-37

Story about a rich man and poor man

Once upon a time there lived a rich man and a poor man.

The rich man could buy everything with his money, while the poor man lived somewhere in the center of the village, neglected without any money.

One day, a rich man was walking around the village and saw a poor man begging, and no one would give him a dinar.

The rich man became sad and gave him all the money he had.

The rich man said: "Follow me, I have more to offer, good man."

They went to a big house where the rich man took money out of the safe and gave up his wealth and gave it to the poor.

The poor man took over the estate, and the money and power he got hit him in the head.

Since the recently rich man gave away all his money, he became a monk and dedicated his life to God.

The same one he helped now lowers his head when he passes by the one who gave him that property.

— Slavoslov, 6:40-49

The ending

And indeed, whoever keeps these commandments will find eternal life

— Slavoslov, 6:50
