Uddin I is the second and longest reigning King of Ahmedland.
His reign has been noted for absolute monarchy, in addition to widespread satisfaction with his reign.
Uddin I succeeded the child king Abdus-Samad (r. 2009–10) after protests regarding the former's role as head of the family, as a result of which he was declared as emperor for a few months.
Titles
The name Uddin I is derived from one of the remaining names of the traditional Hyderabadi-Deccan titles of Shaykh Muʿin al-Dīn Ahmad Ghulam, etc., etc., etc., which are not all officially used by the Ahmed Royal House. However, he is addressed in one of four styles by various members of Ahmedland citizenery, more commonly known as Ahmedlanders.
Among the descendants of the king, his three sons are expected to take on the titles of Uddin II, III, and IV.
Personal characteristics
Uddin I is known for his forbearance, resourcefulness, and clear-headedness, as well as his skillful managing of dissident elements within his realm. His court is one of joviality, with a marked absence of intergovernmental politicking which Uddin has worked hard to avoid.
Politics and government
Uddin I quietly abolished the prime ministry in 2012 after the farcical "2012 election campaign" held in 2011. Since then, he has ruled under a system of absolute monarchy with the help of his advisers.
Military, law and order
Uddin I has been known for his military excursions, which have led him to be proclaimed General and leader of the opposition War Party (2010).
The palace
Ahmedland is epitomized by the Royal residence, of which the King is technically the owner; in fact, the house has been in his property for over thirty years.
Economy
Uddin I's reign has been notable for the absence of taxes. While some economists would criticize this as being antithetical to growth, Uddin's judgement could be argued to have bolstered national unity.
In popular culture
While respected by the media, Uddin I is conscious of the seriousness of his role, and has declined to write for Ahmedland's newsmagazines claiming it might be seen as an endorsement. He has been known to make occasional interviews.
Family
Uddin I reigns with the help of his consort and virtual co-ruler Queen Ahmedunnisa I. The title Ahmedunnisa is derived from the Queen's original middle name, coincidentally meaning "Ahmed (praised) of women".
