Begelism, also known as the Church of Begel was a religion centered around a bagel that operated between February and August 2020. It was mainly operated by Johann Kümmel.

History

The origins of Begelism trace back to several messages on the Discord server of the Republic of Elysium, dated to February 2020. The Church was originally founded as the Church of Snoot, with a branch being opened in Leo.

On 14 March, the Church was renamed to the Church of Begel - a misspelling of the word "bagel" - and began advertising the faith in other micronations. It was made the national religion of Crabistan following its founding on 1 April.

After several months of inactivity, the-then Pope of the Church of Begel, Johann Kümmel, resigned on 12 August, with Kris Latzke, the Overseer of the Masses, resigning shortly after.

Organization

The Church of Begel was divided into "churches", each overseen by a Bishop, who would report directly to the Pope. There was also an Overseer of the Masses, who acted as a second-in-command to the Pope.
