  • The Conflict in Perimata (Malay: Konflik di Perimata) is an ongoing insurgency between the Gaplan associated state of Perimata, and communist insurgents. It has been going on as a low level insurgency since shortly after the nation's incorporation, but flared up presumably due to the Gaplan incorporation of the nation. On 7 April 2024, Governor Indera Rafah signed an order allowing for soldiers of the Royal Kedah Regiment to begin combative operations in the jungle regions surrounding Marxist holdouts, and this was supplemented by a royal decree.[1]

    Events

Communist guerillas have launched various attacks on-and-off until 24 March, when an open revolt began. This time targeted at removing Gaplan 'control' from the nation. This came after the nation was incorporated into Gapla as a 'freely associated state'.[2] The Perimatan leadership requested a few favors from Gapla, such as a MicroWiki page, and hoped for economic and cultural benefit. However, according to Abdul Sawar Netak, these demands were not met. Percieved apathy from the Perimatan side after a week of engagement caused them to withdraw from Gapla, choosing to become a protectorate of the Laskaridian Commonwealth Association.

    Laskaridian intervention

The Laskaridian offensive officially began with the signing of Royal Declaration 22. The Laskaridian soldiers of the Royal Kedah Regiment began to operate in what is known as the Northern Petania offensive. An organized effort to contain Marxist guerillas south of the Perimatan areas.

    Northern Petania offensive

The Northern Petaniapura offensive was a military operation conducted on April 8-9, 2024, initiated by Colonel Issa Yusufah at 3:55 PM local time. It involved units from the Royal Kedah Regiment and the 11th Military Operations Brigade with the goal of destabilizing Marxist strongholds south of Ezanipet and Petaniapura, as part of the ongoing Conflict in Perimata and the Laskaridian intervention phase.

Strategically planned near Fort Srivijaya, the operation was a response to earlier clashes against the Perimatan government, exacerbated by the presence of Malaysian law enforcement in urban areas, pushing Communist insurgents to create makeshift weapons in forests, which posed challenges to patrols due to jungle cover. Drone operations revealed weapon depots consisting of rudimentary weaponry like sharp sticks and AirSoft guns. Despite attempts to communicate with Malaysian authorities, no significant response was received.

The offensive commenced with an order from King Sean II and V of Laskaridia, mobilizing forces without friction during the daytime. Assisted by drones for reconnaissance, the initial targets were two weapons depots, one of which was raided while the other required a short assault. The operation was deemed a success after a joint communique and a virtual call to George Celenic, resulting in the expansion of the Ezanipet Occupation Zone by 0.5 square miles under the control of the Sultanate of Perimata.

    Operation Peoples' War

On April 10, 2024, Marxist insurgents launched Operation People’s War in response to the Northern Petania offensive within the Conflict in Perimata. The operation, orchestrated primarily by the Perimbri Gonzalo militant communist group, aimed to retaliate against raids on their weapons depots by Laskaridian forces. Utilizing guerrilla tactics and inspired by Maoist ideology, the insurgents planned their assault following an expansion of the Ezanipet Zone southwards by Laskaridian forces. Despite initial attempts to conceal themselves within the jungle near Ezanipet, the insurgents were met with effective countermeasures, including drone surveillance and ground assaults, ultimately resulting in their failure to advance and ensuring the security of the Ezanipet area from further communist attacks. The operation highlighted the significance of intelligence gathering and signaled the challenges faced by insurgent groups in the face of advanced military strategies.

    Ezanipet bombs

On April 12th, 2024 at roughly 7:00PM local time, insurgents belonging to the Revolutionary People’s Republic of Perimata and the Pertembri Gonzalo set off pyrotechnics in the center of Ezanipet as a terrorist attack. The damage was reported to be black ash in the center of Ezanipet as well as light damage to bikes stationed nearby.
