The Deputy Prime Minister of Cania is the deputy head of government, senior cabinet member and minister of the crown in the Kingdom of Cania. The office is not always in use and can be granted to members of the Council of Ministers to denote seniority.
Duties
The DPM has no defined duties. However, officeholders will typically do the following:
- Chair the Council of Ministers in the Absence of the Prime Minister
- Help Guide the Legislative Process in Parliament
- Aid the Prime Minister in the Execution of their Duties
- Advise the Monarch on How to Exercise Some of their Powers
Appointment
The deputy prime ministry is an office that is not always filled so sometimes the position is left vacant.
In the event of a DPM being appointed, they are appointed by the Monarch of Cania - typically on the nomination of the Prime Minister. The Deputy Prime Minister serves at the monarch's pleasure.
