Dissociatism

Dissociatism is a political, social, and economic ideology founded by President McKay C of the USRM, in which groups of people are separated into smaller districts within the larger nation based on population, ethnicity, political affiliation, etc. These districts are all independent from one-another, economically and culturally, and can develop their own industries and cultures separate from the collective nation, as well as develop trade with other districts and foreign nations. The central government, however, retains full control over the autonomy of the districts, and is allowed to limit and expand the autonomy of the districts at any time.

Quote from the Founder:

"The theory is that if you separate people into small groups that are all independent from each other (economically and culturally), with a strong federal government, then it gets rid of the divide of democracy. It is based on the idea that democracy is inherently flawed as people will do as the masses, even if the masses are wrong, so if you give minorities a place to express their ideals, you get rid of the problem. The “districts” are allowed to develop their own culture, economy, and political system, without interference from another district, and it increases political risks, due to not having as many repercussions if their idea fails"

The main end goal of dissociatism is to split up the masses for a more fair democratic system (although it can be used in any political system). Most often, the power is vested in a strong central government, usually with a federalist system. Similar to Directionism, Dissociatism is largely a vehicle for a nation, as it can be applied to any nation, ideology, or political system, in any way, shape, or form.

Examples in official micronations

Kingdom of Fontasia

On 6 November, 2018, the Assemblic Federation had adopted a form of Dissociatism, which is extremely different from modern Dissociatism, under the name Assemblic Panemism. One month later, however, they had to remove it because of barbaric invasions coming into the country.

This is not considered Dissociatism by the USRM.

United States of the Rocky Mountains

On 1 November, 2021, the United States of the Rocky Mountains adopted Dissociatism through executive order A-3, following the first presidential election, in which the Federalist (Dissociatist) Party won 71.8% of the popular vote. The USRM is the first nation to officially declare their nation dissociatist.

Kingdom of Salanda

The Kingdom of Salanda has a dissociatist party known as the "Dissociatist-Federalist Party". It currently holds no seats in the Tepoelan as it was created just recently, however it is expected to gain at least one this election.
