The Federation of heceta is a North American micronation located in Oregon. Founded in 2024 as the third micronationalist project by now chairman “adri”.The claims of Heceta have not been recognized by the United Nations or any of its member states.

The Nation claims to be governed as a Federal republic. But since no Representatives have been appointed, The chairman of the government holds most of the power.

The nation promises to engage with the local micronational community. Its government is avid about supporting other micronations. Although it is still relatively young and hasn’t established many connections yet.

Etymology

Indigenous peoples have inhabited The area now called oregon long before the arrival of Spanish and British, and later Americans. The name “Heceta” comes from a spanish naval officer of the same name, Although the name of the nation comes from the Name given to the Columbia River Estuary, which has been a hub of the pacific northwest for centuries. The name was chosen because of its prominence and connections to the region, and because it was “easier” and “sounded better” then other name options.

History

The history of micronations in the region dates back to the summer of covid 19, when the founder of Heceta was reading about kevin Baugh and the Republic of Molossia. A fort/settlement in his backyard under the flag of the Republic of lavender. This country was abandoned after the end of that summer.The other micronation started by chairman adriano is now called the kingdom of oceanic, although the coat of arms, government, history, and independence day have been long forgotten. Only the land claims and flag tri-color color scheme have been remembered.

The Federated provinces of Heceta was founded on the 23rd of march 2024 also being inspired by kevin Baugh’s molossia. Originally Called the federation of Somerset The nation was founded with its capital, Somerset west (now called jewell city). The federation then annexed the maple province. 2 days later the wheelbarrow province was officially annexed. Followed by the falcon basin territory and finally, the west hills. The city of Somerset east was also founded in late march to house the bank and the armory. March 31st was when the name jewel city also started to be used on maps. The same day the name change proposal came. The flag, seal and name of heceta was ratified on April 1st, although the government assured the public that it was 100% real and not in celebration of the national holiday. The territory of juan de fuca was created on April 5th 2024, falcon basin was ratified as a province of Heceta on the same day.The Federated provinces of Heceta was also inspired by Dominion of Vancouver Island and the Cascadian Bioregion. On April 20th the Federation gave up its independence to the greater union of the Federated Republic of Oregon in which the chairman was “elected” leader of oregon.

Politics and government

Heceta Operates as a “Federal republic” but is under the provisional government of heceta due to a lack of representation and people to hold the jobs. Heceta currently has one political party, The Frist Hecetan national party which holds all the seats in the government currently. The nation is under a military dictatorship which serves as the chairman of the nation.

The Hecetan national party was formally called the Somerset national party. But the name was changed to reflect the country's name change.

Law and order

Everyone on hecetan soil is subject to the same federal and state level laws of the united states government. However laws may differ from province to province. No local police forces are located in heceta. The hecetan special forces are in charge of keeping law and order at the federal level. The customs and border protection agencies are in charge of making sure nothing bad gets into the country and protect the border from Florida and California.

The armed forces of Heceta was founded with the creation of heceta on march 23rd.There are currently 2 branches, the Navy of heceta and the hecetan air force.

Navy

The Navy of heceta is the main branch of the armed forces. Heceta does not have a army, however it does have naval infantry, The naval infantry secure the nation and are in-charge of the armory's at Somerset East and wheelbarrow. The navy currently has no active vessels but has one inactive vessel.

Geophagy and climate

The territory of heceta is located west of the cascade mountain range and west of the East hills. The costal provinces of falcon basin and wheelbarrow are separated from the central provinces by the Northern Oregon Coast Range.The region sees lots of rain throughout the winter and spring seasons. The official statement From the Workers at the crescent whether station was “its pretty rainy here”.

Economy

The Nation imports almost all of its tools from the united states of America.Including the national currency, the Us dollar. The Nation has various resources, including lumber, Rocks, Shells, dirt, and gravel.The unofficial currency, The Hecetan Leather, is accepted at the jewel trading post just outside of jewel city.

Culture

For the most part the federation celebrates the same holidays that are celebrated in the unided states. The country's national animal, the squirrel, is seen in multiple symbols. The national fish, the salmon, also appears in food. The Recognized languages include English, Spanish, German, and Pacific Northwest languages. The Department of communication is responsible for broadcasting messages throughout the nation. The Arts and media of Heceta are heavily influenced by the United states of America. Although the Hecetan historical Society helps maintain Hecetan culture by persevering the nations history.
