The DuPage & Cook County Operational Sector, also known as the Fridian Active Zone, is an area located in the western suburbs of Chicago that contains all operations in relation to the Holy Republic of FRID. The zone was established as part of the Fridian Border Limits Act of 2021, intended to limit how far HRF activities could extend past the borders of the republic. As of 2023, the sector is officially 8.98 square miles, although this statistic is not exact. The borders of the sector have been updated several times, most notably of which being the extension to accommodate the Western Province in July 2021. On several occasions, proposals to lay claim to new territory have been rejected due to the territory in question being outside of the operational sector. On 1 July 2022, the Salt Creek Republic was created, establishing territory just outside of the zone.
