An Eponymous Archon is a title to describe the head of the administration in a Province.
An Imvrassian citizen who has the title of Count/Countess or Protosebastos/Protosebaste as well as members of the Imperial House with the rank of Sebastokrator/Sebastokrateira, Despotes/Despotissa or Nobelissimos/Zoste Patrikia can be appointed as an Eponymous Archon by the Crown and the length of his/her term is determined by his own desire to administer an administrative subdivision of the state as is the case of others administrative divisions.
An Eponynous Archon can appoint to each Theme an Archon and his/her immediate assistant and deputy has the office of Chartoularios.
