This nation is a micronation in a permanent inactive status

The Honorable Republic of New Constantinople, more commonly known as New Constantinople, was a micronation in the nearby area of Mexico City with a particular portion of sea claimed at the equatorial line of the Pacific Ocean.

It was a theocratic, socialist, christian, spanish-speaking democracy founded on September 9, 2021 by the mexican-nisean theologian and micronationalist, Augusto Izard Marth.

Started as a project to stop paying rent to the Mexican authorities and complain about the corrupt political system by the time, the micronationalist politician Augusto Izard, decided to proclaim independence from Mexico, addressing that macroeconomics is a "system condemned to damnation of the people" (some argue that he said this words once the Proclamation of Independence was made). As a Christian theocracy, New Constantinople was committed to achieve intermicronational peace, with the Office of Eldership of Foreign Affairs in the constant mission of sending request letters to other micronations -and also some macronations- to pursue peace treaties between themselves.

Due to lack of activities between the Republic and the foreign nations, alongside with major discouragement from the macronational press, and a letter of criticism and cease of operations from the Vice-President of the Eldership and Chief Elder of Culture and Art, New Constantinople collapsed on October 17, 2021. It's capital is still considered a micronation by itself, by the new name of H. Hispanic Reformed Republic of Nisea.

Name

New Constantinople was named after the capital of the Byzantine Empire, Constantinople, where the third Council of the Christian Church was held in 381 a.d. The importance of this event on the contemporary Christian church remarks on the professing of the divinity of the Holy Spirit, which is known by christians as the Third Person of the Holy Trinity.

Some people argue that, although that's the official story of the naming of New Constantinople, the real reason might be that Augusto Izard M. wanted to start a third empire within Mexico, which the Office of Eldership of Foreign Affairs denoted were only rumors and pure nonsense.

History

In 2018, when Andres Manuel López Obrador became the President of Mexico, the political background of the nation turned into a socialistic model, leaving almost 70+ years of Positivism and Neoliberalism within the country. By that moment, a young preacher Augusto Izard decided to change his residence from Mexico City to any other state within the mexican territory.

By the mid of 2021 and after looking other options such as exile and deportation, without any optimal solution, Mr. Izard decided to personally declare war on world politics, arguing that macroeconomics "are ruining the lives of millions of people, raising taxes and improving the opportunity of the rich to become richer" thus, he categorized macronationalism as a "system condemned to the damnation of the people".

Finally, after planning and research, and alongside Mr. Emmet Horton, following the independentist movements across the world, he proclaimed the Independence of the Sovereign and Theocratic, Honorable Republic of New Constantinople on Sept. 9th, 2021, putting himself as the President of the Eldership. On the proclamation event, president Augusto signed the unilateral document and delivered a discourse giving the United Mexican States 24 hours to give a response against the independence. On Sept. 10th, the document got sealed and the micronation was born.

Only one month later, on October 15, after successfully establish foreign affairs with other micronations, most of New Constantinople's citizens abandoned the project, even with the Vice-President of the Eldership and Chief Elder of Culture and Art writing a letter to discourage secessionism and to exhort the dissolution of New Constantinople. Only two days later, on October 17, the Eldership collapsed, not having anyone to respond to. Being ignored and forgotten by its citizens, New Constantinople came to an end.

Politics and government

New Constantinople defined itself as a "teocratic, representative and democratic republic". Its ideology, regarding theocracy described that God is the Supreme Being and the final Authority in every moral, civil, social, economic, religious and political aspect of the nation. By representative, New Constantinople affirmed that God's Authority is in the Scriptures, which are delivered to the society by the "President of Eldership" and his Council of Elders, which form the Congress, mostly known as the "Eldership of New Constantinople". They also identified themselves as democratic, since every year they planned to elections to choose whether to depose the President or to reaffirm him for another term.

Presidency

The Presidency of New Constantinople was the Head of State. The President was the chief of the executive branch of the theocratic government and was the commander in chief of the Neoconstantinian Armed Forces. The President, according to the constitution, alongside the Vice-President, served for a one-year term, allowed to run again or serve as many times as he's elected. Elections were supposed to be held every first Sunday of the year, once approved by the Office of Eldership of Government and the Suboffice of Elections and Public Affairs. Since the Independence of New Constantinople on Sept. 9th, 2021, the only President that ever held the office was P.E. Augusto Izard Marth.

Law and order

The Neoconstantinian Constitution stated that the Suprema Lex was the Bible. Their secondary laws and norms were considered like so, since judgement and law enforcement was applied by the Eldership of New Constantinople as the authority designated to do so.

Foreign relations

The Honorable Republic of New Constantinople established that recognized every single macronation affiliated to the United Nations, and also asked them to recognize any micronation that may be within their territory. It also acknowledged the existence of all micronations affiliated to GUM.

In one of their articles, New Constantinople asked for every micronation to send visual evidence of their existence to make the official recognition of other micronations not affiliated to any official group.

Regarding war, the H. Republic of New Constantinople stated publicly that they did not approve, by any means, the use violence or any sort of beylic activity towards any other micronation. Thus, New Constantinople rejected the usage of an army, air force, navy or other military group.
