Etymology

The Kingdom of Yakutia is a direct reference to the Sakha/Yakut people of northeastern Siberia.

History

During the Russian Civil War (1917–1923), the Siberian armies of Gen. Anatoly Pepelyayev declared the defunct Yakutsk Oblast to be the continuation of the Russian Empire. With around 130 thousand men, the Yakut Revolt began, in a last-ditch effort to destroy Red control in the Far East. After the collapse of the USSR in 1991, an attempt was made by the native population to create an independent state, which was crushed and invalidated by the Nikolayev administration, in conjunction with the Russian Federation. Today, the region is under direct rule from Moscow, but many separatist groups still remain in support of an independent nation.

After the RSFSR's triumph in the Civil War, the great-grandparents of the current Tsar fled into neighboring Manchuria, starting an embroidery shop in the city of Harbin. With the Japanese invasion in 1933, the family took refuge in the United States and began a new life in rural New York State. In 1994, the current imperial family returned to the recently formed Sakha Republic and started a custom shoe store in the northern town of Tiksi. In 2003, Roman Konstantinov was born, becoming first in line to lead the Darkhaan clan, which held noble titles during the Mongol Yuan dynasty in China. In 2006, the soon-to-be Tsar immigrated to the United States, moving in with his grandparents and aiding the family business. Entering the New York public school system in 2008, young Roman was very well educated, graduating with an average yearly GPA of 3.81 and doing very well in history courses. It was his passion for debating and studying the days of old that sparked the young boy's interest in nationalism, which only blossomed with him as he entered his later years of high school. As a practicing Christian, young Roman was very interested in the history of the religion, drawing him to the story of the Eastern Orthodox church. Particularly interested in the church's role in his native lands of Yakutia (Sakha), the boy combined his Christian beliefs with Yakut nationalism. In such, he laid out the framework for a Sakha national state, with the church having limited power and a small, authoritarian government balanced with a unicameral legislature.

On March 16, 2020, soon-to-be micronationalist Roman Konstantinov held a meeting with 16 of his fellow nationalists, resulting in him being appointed as the leader of a tsarist Yakut regime with the goal of liberating the homeland. 5 out of the 17 men in the committee were the descendants of White émigrés who fled Russia after the fall of the Empire, which created an even tighter bond between the leader and his followers. On April 1, 2020, the Yakut State Council met in the soon-to-be-designated Revolution Park and crowned the 17-year-old Roman Konstantinov as Tsar Roman I, Emperor of Yakutia. A constitution was ratified by the Council just 6 days later, with the parliament being officialized and the title of Tsar being enshrined into law.

Economy

Yakutia has a middle income planned economy with vast amounts of fertile land and natural minerals, particularly coal and salt. Since the foundation of the state, domestic trade has bolstered the economy, seeing a 20,614.22% increase in GDP during the summer of 2020. The constant extraction of salt has brought down the costs of the seasoning greatly, with domestic prices averaging at around $0.013/oz. The nation made a return to the guild system in July 2020, creating a larger demand for foreign workers. Due to this, many people from the surrounding United States have flocked to the Kingdom with high hopes in the regional stock system.

As of October 2020, salt accounted for roughly 62% of all exports, with average monthly profits of $1600 US. A flat 2.5% tax rate has attracted many businessmen to set up stores in the territories, with the State Council granting handsome subsidies to new development. Behind salt, embroidered clothing exports made up 31% of the national economy. Other sources of income are spices, pottery and wood crafts. On July 6, 2020, the YSC approved a grant of $3,100 to build the nation's first plant-based salt refinery, which has greatly aided the industry. Yakutia currently exports salt to the neighboring region of New York State, which is the main source of the nation's wealth. Another grant was approved on September 2, providing $360 for agricultural equipment. As of October 6, 2020, the nation is entirely independent of foreign food imports and has now become a cabbage exporter.

Culture and media

As a result of the primarily Russian, Sakha and Volga German population, Yakutia's culture is very much a melting pot of Siberian traditions.
