Member of Parliament (Albia)
In Albia a Member of Parliament, commonly referred to as an MP, is an elected member of the House of Assembly in the Parliament of Albia.
Election
MPs are elected to represent constituencies in the House of Assembly. Elections are done with the first-past-the-post system in each constituency for their MP. The party that has the most MPs elected to the house form the government.
Styles
All members of parliament are entitled to the post-nominal MP upon election.
In house sittings, MPs in government are addressed as "The Right Honourable Member for [Constituency]" by the opposition or as "My Right Honourable Friend, the Member for [Constituency]" by other members of the government. Members of the opposition are addressed similarly but with "The Honourable" instead of "The Right Honourable".
Term
All MPs, like the Prime Minister sit at His Majesty's pleasure and sit while the Monarch of Albia has called parliament. MPs hold their seats until parliament is dismissed or another election is hosted.
