The Minister of Homeland Security, sometimes the Homeland Security Minister, is the executive department head of the Department of Homeland Security - the federal department tasked with ensuring public safety in the United Federation. The incumbent is a member of the cabinet.
Role
The homeland security minister is responsible for the oversight of the homeland security department. Their department has oversight any customs and border security agencies, agencies protecting federal officers and federal law enforcement services. Since 19 May 2023, the minister and their department has overseen the Citizenship and Immigration Service - which is a duty the Department of Internal Affairs used to have.
The minister works closely alongside the internal affairs minister and the justice minister.
Appointment
The homeland security minister is appointed by the President of the United Federation typically on the advice and consent of the Senate.
