The Monarchy of the Sitkan Empire is the collective term for the sovereign and head of state of the Sitkan Empire, formally known as the "Emperor and Autocrat of all Sitka", as well as the Imperial Family and its associated court.

Title

The Fundamental Laws of the Sitkan Empire describes the emperor as the symbol of the Sitkan state and the physical embodiment of the unity of its subjects, with Chapter 1, Article 4 stating: "...the Emperor of All Sitka possesses Supreme Sovereign Power. Obedience to His authority, not only out of fear, but in good conscience, is ordained by God Himself." From birth, the Sitkan Emperor is also King of Congress Hurford as well as Grand Duke of Platova, the two largest constituent states within the empire.

Powers

The Sitkan Emeror is an absolute monarch who governs through a system of tsarist autocracy. The powers of the emperor are described as "autocratic and unlimited" by its Fundamental Laws, and utilizes a method of enlightened despotism in which the monarch rules in the best interest of the nation and the common good of his subjects as their metaphorical protector. The emperor wields near-absolute power over domestic and foreign policy and exercises executive power through the State Council on behalf of the state and his subjects. The emperor has veto power, the authority to appoint and dismiss government ministers and judges, as well as the ability to hold or cancel referendums. The emperor is also immune from prosecution by the Supreme Court of the Sitkan Empire.

Line of succession

Succession to the throne is hereditary, and limited to members of the ruling House of Salisbury. According to current house law, succession is determined through absolute primogeniture with the oldest child of the reigning monarch, without regard to sex, being eligible to inherit the throne.
