The Order of the Istrian Star is the highest and most senior order of chivalry of the Republic of Istria which was constituted on 7 July 2016 by a decree issued by President of the Republic of Istria. The criteria of conferment of the decoration is to reward the exceptional civil and military services rendered to the state and the people.
The decoration is restricted to a membership of not more than 20 members at a time.
Grades and Insignia
The President of the Republic of Istria (currently Iordan Luca-Nicolae) is President and Grand Colon of the Order. All deeds granting decorations of the Order must bear the signature of the President and Grand Colon. Members of the order are granted a certificate and personal coat of arms with the insignia of the Order. The Order is conferred in six grades:
- Colon (restricted only to gouvermental and regional personalities)
- Great Cross
- Great Officer
The collar of the order is restricted to one person at a time and is reserved only for the President of the order which is held by the President of the Republic of Istria. The other Knights and Ladies (both governmental and stranger) receive the badge of the order.
