Personal Standard

State Commander, or in German, Generalstaatskommandeur, is a title and office inspired by the title of General Commander. The title of State Commander is used in Ehrenwache as Head of State superceding the former title of Generalleiter and as a military commander by automatically holding the title of Staatsmarschall serving as commander in chief of the Staatswehr. He also chairs the Parliamentary Council and is responsible for its agenda. In Ehrenwache, the office of State Commander is a hereditary position. Therefore, he holds the office till death or resignation. He is also responsible for appointing magistrates in his capacity as chief magistrate.

The office is often compared to that of stadtholder or shogun due to its mixed role in political and military affairs.
