The Elysiumite Nation is a 2023 essay on the nationhood of the Empire of Elysium written by Robert Smith and Elliot Doe. The essay discusses previous attempts to define the nationhood of Elysium during the era of the Vox Party & the Republic of Elysium, as well the current attempt at defining it.

Synopsis

In context of the Elysiumite nation, the essay notes that Elysium has a government, national symbols and some "basic national traditions" - however, it states that Elysium would not qualify as a nation due to it not organizing around one of several factors (the essay notes religion, ethnicity and race among others as some of these factors).

The essay then notes 3 attempts at defining an Elysiumite nation - the "Voxist view", "republican view" and "imperial view". The Voxist view of Elysium was that it should be a Christian nation and, due to this, Christianity was made the state religion of Elysium during the Vox Party's time in power. On the other hand, the republican view believed that Elysium should be centered around the promotion of democracy and egalitarianism. However, these two views of Elysiumite nationhood failed due to the fact that "they did not follow the natural process of creating national identity" and, instead of this, imposed one upon Elysium.

On the other hand, the imperial view believes that Elysium is based on "the organic spirit of an Elysiumite nation" and that it was created to defend the rights of the Elysiumite citizenry. In regards to this view, the essay defines Elysiumite nationhood as "based on the respect of one another, and an acceptance that we can disagree with one another and still celebrate each other’s basic human dignity".
