The Democratic Republic of The Highlands, more commonly known as the Highlands, is a County in Frenson... The Highlands is the smallest county in Frenson with only a square footage of 30ft. It was founded 30 minutes after the D.G.R.F. was created when Frenson United.

Unlike most counties, the Highlands are an unitary republic with no official capital city. They are a Democratic Republic like most of the counties in Frenson, with the mayor being voted in by the people, and bills being passed by the congress majority.

The Highlands are in mutual recognition with every Frensonian county and the D.G.R.F. However, their borders are still closed due to the First Frensonian Civil War.

Etymology

The Name Highlands comes from the swingset that makes up the region, as most people play on swings, they get elevated. So the name Highlands was chosen to reflect the elevation of the swing.

History

Highlandian history can be traced back before Frenson, being a swingset used by the president and his family. However, when the D.G.R.F. was founded, the Highlands was briefly united with our capital. Before declaring independence and becoming a Frensonian county. The Highlands also fought on the allied side in both Frensonian Civil Wars, both without being invaded.

Politics and government

The Highlands is once again, a Unitary Democratic Republic. Each person in the Highlands can vote for a congressman and a mayor. Majority rules in the county, not the electoral college. Every bill that may be passed in the Highlands must get a majority vote

Head of state

The mayor of the Highlands holds the same power as every other mayor. He can create bills that must pass through Congress, he can establish diplomatic relations with other counties, and he can veto bills that have not passed through Congress after 2 referendums

Mayoral House

The Mayoral House of Frenson is the upper house of the counties, consisting of the Mayor, Assistant Mayor, and Congress. They are responsible for the counties well-being and are the ones who can pass lower-class bills

People's House

The People's House in Frenson are the civilians of the Highlands, they can create petitions, create bills, and veto upper house bills, the lower house also follows the Democratic Republic standard for Ideals

Military

The Highlandian Defense Force is the main military in The Highlands. With current active personnel of 0. The Force has fought in both civil wars, with medium-grade micronational warfare weaponry such as Airsoft and Nerf

Though the Highlands have closed borders, they have Bi-lateral recognition with every Frensonian county.

Geography and climate

The Highland shares a Humid Continental climate like the rest of Frenson, with summer temperatures in that area usually being 70-80F (26.6C) and winter temperatures being around 30-40F (4.4C). Residentia is also prone to flooding like Residentia since the swing captures rain and puts it down on the soil.

Economy

The Highlands are a richer Frensonian county, with a Treasury of §45 Soni. And a per capita of §10 Soni. Highlandian income comes from tourism, due to the Highlands being a park district. They have a GDP of §2.4 Soni.
