Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights in Gerria face serious and heavy social and legal challenges not experienced by those of Non-LGBT residents, freedom of expression of such rights is banned in the country, due to Christianity serving as the de facto official religion in Gerria. Sodomy is a crime in the country, with strictly enforced laws, social attitudes of such people are shaped by religions such as Christianity and Islam. Gerrian law calls LGBT residents as "demons" or "demon-possessed people". Breaking the Gerrian Anti-LGBT propaganda laws are punishable by exile and deportation out of Gerria to other micronations and/or macronations, together with fines of up to $100 (USD), or both.
Ever since its formation in 12 July 2022, the entire Gerrian population has disapproved of homosexuality, with strongly negative reviews of it. Gerria provides no anti-discrimination policies for LGBTQ+ foreigners. Emperor Benjamin Posada of Gerria has also proposed of a federal law banning the distribution of promotion of non-traditional sexual relationships to minors, which might be added to The Empirical Code soon. Posada has had some worries that Gerria might be condemned by LGBT-rights supporters and that his Anti-LGBT policies probably might lead to protests. The state-owned Gerryscute GEB company also has a zero-tolerance policy on LGBTQ costumers. LGBT people cannot legally serve as employees, diplomats, and consuls of Gerria or it's agencies and companies.
The community of the "Sleepycat" chat website (of which Gerria recognizes as an extremist) has criticized Gerria's Anti-LGBT laws, calling Gerria a more "retarded" version of Russia, some users have also called Gerria as being equivalent to 1984's Oceania or the country of North Korea. Gerria can also be compared to the micronation of Subejia for having such laws.
As of 2023, emperor Benjamin Posada has proposed to sign a law where the banning of the distribution of materials promoting unnatural sexual relationships to minors will be extended to anyone regardless of age, thus making any expression deemed a promotion of non-traditional sexual relationships illegal.
Gerria strongly supports the wave of torture and killings of gay men in Russia's Chechnya republic, Posada said "it's what the LGBT community definitely deserve for their horrible abominations.".
There is no legal protection against LGBTQ rights in the country, as sodomy is considered a felony under the laws of Gerria's Empirical Code.
In May of 2022, amid the US gay pride month, Emperor Benjamin Posada decided that he will be make it illegal to name a geographical or a geological region after people who are members of the LGBT community, or anyone associated with it. He also said that any promotion of materials promoting gender dysphoria will also be illegal under Gerrian law.
In June of 2022, amid pride month, Emperor Benjamin Posada approved of a law that prohibits the naming of astronomical objects, regions, and features after members of the LGBT community. This law would effectively make naming an astronomical region, object, or feature after a member of the LGBT community illegal.
Despite Gerria's anti-LGBT laws though, two pride flags were held in the northern parts of Theiss oblast.
History
When it was founded in 12 July 2022, Gerria never had any laws regarding anything about LGBT rights in the country, but the entire Gerrian population has since had strongly negative reviews on it.
In late 2022, during the Gerrian-OWOT Cold War, the Gerrian parliament began introducing a series of laws that prohibit the dissemination of propaganda that promotes LGBT culture. It has since received criticism from the OWOT and Sleepycat communities, calling Gerria an authoritarian dictatorship. A Kazakh OWOT user going by the username "Bzuki" believed that Gerria's anti-LGBT policies might be condemned by world governments, American OWOT user "Pinkie Pie" called Gerria a "more retarded" version of Russia, while an OWOT user disguised as "Elon Musk" called Gerria as being akin to Oceania from the novel 1984.
On late March 2023, Posada I of Gerria approved a law that prohibited all members of the LGBT community from entering a religious territory of Gerria even if they had valid visas. As of 2023 this ban would effectively prohibit members of the LGBT community from entering an area of land that covers the oblasts of Church Temple and Chicken Coop, the okrugs of Youth Temple, Church Garage and Waterhouse, and the Central and Northern Maria Bayou krais. This law was approved in response to a school shooting that happened in Nashville, Tennessee in which the shooter was identified as a transgender person.
In May of 2023 amid the upcoming gay pride month celebrations in the US, Gerrian emperor Posada has begun to approve of making numerous laws that restrict freedoms of expression for LGBT foreigners even further. Gerria has since stopped issuing visas to members of the LGBT community, regardless of what country they are in.
Gerrian emperor Benjamin Posada has come up with a solution to fix the problem with the promotion of LGBT propaganda to minors, saying that by the time Gerria colonizes the world that Gerria will punish those who promote LGBT propaganda to minors by taking them into concentration camps and torturing and killing them.
Gerria strongly voted in favour of Anti-LGBT laws coming from Hungary, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Uganda. It also strongly voted in favour of Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill.
In June of 2022, amid pride month, Emperor Benjamin Posada approved of a law that prohibits the naming of astronomical objects, regions, and features after members of the LGBT community. This law would effectively make naming an astronomical region, object, or feature after a member of the LGBT community illegal.
Current situation
- The age of consent currently stands at 16.
- Transgender people are strictly banned from changing their legal gender.
- Homosexual behavior is regarded by Gerrian emperor Benjamin Posada as "poison".
- Homosexual couples are not allowed to adopt children of any kind.
- Any pride events taking place within Gerrian soil are forcibly shut down by Gerrian authorities.
Public opinion
Public opinion in Gerria tends to be hostile towards homosexuality. Posada believes that the entire Gerrian population is against same sex marriage, and that they support Gerria's laws restricting propaganda that promotes non-traditional homosexual relationships.
