The national flag of Snagov (Snagovian: Стєагу Снагову) is a tricolour consisting of three equal horizontal bands displaying the 3 out of the 4 national colours of Snagov: green, blue, and white. The flag was officially adopted as the flag of the Republic of Snagov on 18 June 2020. A second national flag was introduced on 18 June 2022, also featuring three equal horizontal bands, with the colours of blue, white and red. The two flags have equal status, however, the original green, blue and white tricolour is used in foreign affairs. To help distinguish the tricolours, they two flags a nickname based on the colour that is unique to each, thus, the original tricolour is called the Green Tricolour and the second tricolour is called the Red Tricolour. As official symbols of the state, it is protected against defamation, along other national symbols.

Origins

The horizontal tricolour design of the flag was inspired by other neighbouring slavic countries' flags, most importantly, Bulgaria. The Bulgarian flag also has the same ratio of 3:5. Green, blue, and white, along with red, have always been colours that have represented the area and the people. The current tricolour however was inspired from the Snagovian landscape, with green representing its forests and plains, blue representing its waters and the sky, and white representing the origin of the area's name - snow. The flag was adopted by the people on 18 June 2020.
