History of Schpecktenia
The Provincist Republic of Schpecktenia dates back to late 2022, and the government has changed six times. The complete history is divided into six sections, the Foundation Era, First Renaissance, Forgotten Era, Second Renaissance, Third Renaissance, and the Current Era.
Pre-Micronation (1818 - 2022)
Edwardsville, the location of Schpecktenia was founded in 1818. The first European-American settler was Thomas Kirkpatrick, who came in 1805, laid out a community, and served as the Justice of the Peace. He named the community after his friend Ninian Edwards, the territorial governor of Illinois at the time.
Foundation Era
4 October 2022 - 22 November 2022
The nation started after Ruby Specht, the founder and current president of Schpecktenia, was watching several videos about micronations, most notably Molossia. She spends the next several days in the incredibly boring Environmental Science class with an awful teacher drafting the constitution of the Monarchy of Schpecktenia. The flag designed was similarly formatted to the modern Schpecktenian flag, but with no star, darker brown and green, and a warmer purple.
After some thought, Ruby I decided that a monarchy wouldn't work, so the nation became the Grand Empire of Schpecktenia. The Grand Empire’s goals were different from modern Schpecktenia, and had a completely different government structure. It was a “Democratic Empire” with Ruby holding the title of Grand Emperor, and the legislative was the House of Law-Making Peoples and the House of Electoral Items. The government had limitations, like not being able to confiscate citizen’s items unless they had communist/socialist paraphernalia, Venus Flytraps, red clothing, or colorful shoes, which is a really stupid law to outlaw specific clothing. Schpecktenia's new ideology was to control as much land as possible.
On 16 October 2022, Ruby would create the Schpecktenian Mark, the official currency of Schpecktenia. It would be backed by peach rings, and have coin versions called the Havercin and Fourther. These elements survive today, but one mark is now backed by ten peach rings. The nation was actually coming around successfully, and Ruby was proud of this nation. Sadly, it would all come to an end. We do not like to specify what exactly caused the first Dark Times, even it being almost a year ago. Still, the Grand Empire of Schpecktenia would die out completely on 22 November 2022.
First Renaissance
16 January 2023 - 14 February 2023
The Grand Empire was ultimately deemed not usable, leading to the creation of the Second Republic of Schpecktenia. Schpecktenia would no longer be imperialistic with annexing American citizen’s homes, but would greatly expand its territory, have three provinces, and brightened the colors on the flag. Schpecktenia became present online, joining multiple discord servers. Through Schpecktenia’s new online presence, Ruby would meet Rycocia and Turisa. The three nations decided to found the Organization of Great States.
Schpecktenia finally gained its first citizen, and he quickly gets government roles, being the Head of the Department of War. He was given the standard of five marks for signing the certificate of citizenship, which would damage Schpecktenia's economy. Schpecktenia would be in national debt until 29 January. Shortly after, Luca Tallerico would become a citizen as well, and become Lead Province Director of St. Charles. Schpecktenia, although stating they would not be an empire, founded the Antarctic and Albanian colonies.
Two Days War (12 February 2023 - 14 February 2023)
Luca Tallerico begins thinking about how Schpecktenia is imperialistic but claims it is not, and more importantly the nation’s policy on communist/socialist nations. He declares independence from Schpecktenia as the Schpecktenian People’s Front. The Second Republic saw Luca’s new movement as a threat, and declared war. The Second Republic would gain support from Liveno and Roekistan, while the People’s Front would get support from Turisa. Most of the OGS would support Schpecktenia after Ruby captured back the capital Meadowen. Schpecktenia would declare war on Turisa, and fight them in an online game of War Thunder. Schpecktenia would win, and Turisa pulled out of the war. Schpecktenia and Liveno would raid the People’s Front discord server, leading Luca to surrender.
Schpecktenia annexed back the territory he took, and they then discussed peace terms. The civil war would be known as the Two Days War. Luca stated that Schpecktenia should change its policy on communist/socialist nations, which came true. He also stated that Schpecktenia was very imperialistic and claimed not to be, then he was set free after paying a fine of 2 marks. This left Ruby thinking. Was Schpecktenia really that much of an empire? She then realized that Schpecktenia should convert one more time.
14 February 2023 - 6 March 2023
Following the change in the constitution, the nation converted into the Third Imperial Schpecktenian Republic. Schpecktenia’s flag changed to have similar colors to the original Grand Empire colors, and a ring was placed around the four-point star. The Third Imperial Schpecktenian Republic was created. Ruby aimed to colonize lakes, starting the colonization of Mille-Lacs Lake on 18 February 2023. Schpecktenia, Abyei Republic, Aldonia, Daisyland, Ghurklas, Liveno, Roekistan claimed colonies around Mille Lacs Lake in Minnesota, Schpecktenia founded the Colony of Vineland, which would later become a significant region in 1 June 2023. The colonization spree would end on 20 February 2023.
Another spree happened on 21 February 2023, this time colonizing Pelican Lake. The same nations would colonize the nearby Pelican Lake. Immediately, an issue with the Breezy Point Colony would start between Schpecktenia and Ghurklas. They both stated they claimed it first, and Ghurklas would not give it up. Schpecktenia would threaten Ghurklas with war, and Ghurklas then declared war. Arguments would start, but the TDC Empire stepped in to resolve the conflict. Negotiations were made, and Ghurklas would keep the colony. Pissed, Schpecktenia would ban all Ghurklas peoples from entering Schpecktenia, digitally and in person. This ban would not be lifted until 29 October 2023.
6 March 2023 - 14 March 2023
Schpecktenia would create the national Lakewood Language, but is known today as Old Shpek. It had double capital letters for sh related sounds, and had the latin curled y instead of I. For an unknown reason, Schpecktenia’s ally Roekistan would start to be very hostile to Schpecktenia and Liveno. Many arguments and near war happened because of the aggressive Roekistan, and Ruby was very tired of micronational arguments. She decided the best move for Schpecktenia was to isolate itself from the community, which would start the Second Dark Times.
In isolationism, Schpecktenia would only communicate with Liveno, Rycocia, TDC, and Oakforvia. Politics became functional in the now isolated empire, but isolation didn't stop Roekistan to further antagonize Schpecktenians. More war threats cause Schpecktenia to ban Roekistanis like they did Ghurklasans.
Forgotten Era
14 March 2023 - 29 May 2023
Ruby I thought that the real problem was the Schpecktenia government, the Schpecktenia converted into the Meadowen Empire. The Meadowen Empire was to function like the Grand Empire of Schpecktenia, but the government was extremely short lived. Sadly, all information about the Meadowen Empire would be lost by the end of Ruby’s school year, because she lost the laptop that had the constitution. In January 2024, information about the Meadowen Empire was recovered, allowing the MicroWiki page for the government to officially be accurate.
Ruby had completely lost motivation throughout most of May 2023. She threw in the towel and let the mock-gov Haltenburg annex Schpecktenia, and she focused on more personal matters. Schpecktenia became a colony of Haltenburg, and Ruby focused on other things besides micronationalism. Haltenburg would then change into the Roman Empire. It was a long month for the nation, but Ruby ultimately found her motivation again, and gained independence from the mock-gov. The government would be changed, and a new constitution would shape the nation forever.
Second Renaissance
29 May 2023 - 10 August 2023
The nation turns into the Imperial Federation of Schpecktenia. Schpecktenia's government is entirely different, land becomes more realistic, and Lakewood becomes more of an actual language. The federal system consisted of regions of Schpecktenia, and included the Province of Meadowen, the Duchy of Vineland, the Duchy of New Prussia, the Province of Shadowfoxia, the Republic of Hillsboro, and the capital would be its own region as the Grand Estate of Meadowen.
Schpecktenia hosted the colonization of Hawthorne Pond, which allowed some of the same nations from Mille Lacs and Pelican Lake to establish colonies. The next day, New Prussia, a state of Schpecktenia run by Tallerico, becomes a semi-independent puppet state. New Prussia claims way too much land, so the 1st Imperial Rifle Unit occupies some of the land, which wouldn't be given back to Illinois until 10 August 2023.
King Morris of Liveno, who became a citizen in June, is sued by the Schpecktenian Government for sending a Venus Flytrap image. The Ruby v Morris case lasts an hour, and Morris is found guilty. Turisa, one of the enemy combatants of the Lackluster War, gets recognized by Schpecktenia, and the informally become allies. The next day, New Prussia gains their total independence. Schpecktenia and New Prussia would coexist peacefully, until Ruby I left for Vineland. Tallerico hosts their own colonization of Le Claire Pond, and Ruby I comments that it was unfair that New Prussia is able to control two colonies.
Lackluster War (11 June 2023 - 17 June 2023)
Days later, a conflict with Turisa would arise again, because they declared war on Liveno for spreading propaganda. It was a stupid reason, but Ruby decided it wouldn’t go unpunished. Regional militias united with the 1st Imperial Rifle Unit, and war was declared on Turisa. The war was very uneventful, but Turisa pulled out of the war, and Schpecktenia focused on Turisa’s ally Opstandia. Still, it was a bland war, a Lackluster War. Schpecktenia would admit defeat, and then aid Opstandia in their civil war.
New Prussia-Schpecktenia War (7/12 - 8/10/2023)
After bitter debates, PMC Wotan, a New Prussian based Private Military Company, under order of New Prussia, annexed Schpecktenia's colony in Le Claire, then declared war on Schpecktenia for Ruby I's comments on Le Claire Colonization. New Prussia had the upper hand because Schpecktenia's president was away from the capital. New Prussia had a large colony on Pelican Lake, so Schpecktenia's 24th Clature Division Brigade took their colony. Schpecktenia and Liveno signed the Brainerd Agreement, a unified army of the two nations military. The idea was scrapped, due to Schpecktenia and Liveno being very far apart. New Prussian Armed Forces invaded Schpecktenia and occupied the nation's capital. The 1st Imperial Rifle Unit rushed to retake the capital, but it wouldn't fully be retaken until 10 August 2023. Tallerico attempted to end the war when Ruby I came back to Meadowen, but the peace agreement was denied. On 3 August 2023, the 1st Imperial Rifle Unit would invade New Prussia in the Oakdale Invasion, taking a great piece of New Prussia. After many negotiations, the war finally ended by the signing of the Treaty of Waldlandia.
10 August 2023 - 3 October 2023
The Colony of Mickleville was founded, benefiting the government and economy greatly. The Animal Citizenship Act is passed, later allowing pets to become citizens. Ruby I creates the Goshen Plan, which would increase Schpecktenia's land, and defining a mainland. Schpecktenia joins the Treskan League of States, hosted by the TDC Empire. Schpecktenia also creates a new executive role, the Second Executive Officer.
3 October 2023 - 12 December 2023
Schpecktenia celebrates their first Independence Day on 4 October. The Grand Assembly of Schpecktenia is created, allowing a proper legislative branch to work with the new executive role. The Grand Assembly is run by 5 elected peoples, who can be diplomats. Their job is to vote on laws. SCIP, non-affiliated party, is created, further boosting legislative popularity and productivity. Schpecktenia and New Prussia found the Shared City of Berkshire, a town that is equally owned by the two nations. Ghurklas is recognized, and the State of Texas is created.
Following the Greater Metro East War, Schpecktenia partnered with a film company called Cochleari Film Co., and the company would help Schpecktenia produce videos for YouTube. Schpecktenia would then pass the State Act of 2023, changing regions into states. This act would shrink Schpecktenia's land mass by a decent size, and improve the government with Emb-States and Con-States. Schpecktenia joins the Micronational Assembly on 24 November 2023. In December 2023, states saw more development and a public state ranking system was made. At this time, Schpecktenia also changed the Coat of Arms.
War of the First Front (10/29/2023 - 11/6/2023)
The state system at the time was flawed, and one of Schpecktenia's states, the Province of Drost, would declare independence as the Empire of Taydrostia. Schpecktenia and Taydrostia would coexist peacefully until territorial disputes, which led to the Greater Metro East War.
12 December 2023 - 19 January 2024
During the War of the Second Front and the Taydrostian Civil War, Schpecktenia went into a new period of further organization of states. The State of Texas and Duchy of Seglaeghn merged to form the Province of Seglexas on 31 December 2023. This period saw the first REO and Grand Assembly elections. In early 2024, Schpecktenia quit recognizing the Kingdom of Liveno, and subsequently annexed the Liveno claims in Illinois.
War of the Second Front (12/12/2023 - 12/30/2023
Following the War of the First Front, Taydrostia being a puppet of Schpecktenia, now becoming South Meadowen. A movement would form striving to bring back the old Taydrostian objectives. Schpecktenia and New Prussia wouldn't get involved until the New Independent Taydrostian Movement directly attacked Schpecktenia's capital, the Grand Estate of Meadowen. After weeks of fighting, South Meadowen would fall to NITM's last attack on Syktoria.
19 January 2024 - 15 February 2024
Schpecktenia then improved the government greatly, and created a system that was beneficial for citizens to actually interact in Schpecktenia. Department and Ministry offices were made, document style was improved, monthly plans are implemented, and the first Grand Assembly session was held. This period ended with the questionable Collapse of the United Socialist Republics, an event that many other foreign micronations celebrated. Schpecktenian executives planned the formation of a Provincism based government. The Schpecktenian government had an 11 day period of inactivity, but the Citizenship Application was revised.
Current Era
15 February 2024 - 9 March 2024
The beginning of the Provincist Republic of Schpecktenia was spent formatting documents to fit the new government, and also adding on a ceremonial feudal system with Dukes, Duchessess, Lords, and Ladies ruling over Duchies and Dominions. On 25 February 2024, Lord Victor Salso of French Meadowen abdicated his role as Representative Provincial Director to allow politicians actually residing in the Schpecktenian mainland area to take the role. After this, Schpecktenia officially changed its flag.
The Great Taydrostian Empire further escalated the War of the Third Front by invading New Prussia on 26 February 2024, which then led to the United Military of Schpecktenia organizing again for full combat in the Greater Metro East War. The combined forces of Schpecktenia and New Prussia then started the Invasion of Taydrostia on 3 March 2024, a victory seeing Michael Scholz and Aydin Fisk leaving micronationalism and Gregory Bard being captured by New Prussian forces.
New Prussia took the opportunity of power to expand their land claims. Slightly threatened, President Ruby Specht issued expansion of the Province of Shadoweghn's Duchy of Meadowen, Duchy of Stallion, and Duchy of Metbir on 5 March 2024.
9 March 2024 - 22 April 2024
The March Civil Crisis (3/9/2024 - 4/19/2024) is a largely hidden and classified conflict between the Duchy of Meadowen, Duchy of Metbir, and Dominion of Engelica against the Duchy of Eastern and Western Stallion. On 10 March 2024, the Duchy of Stallion was dissolved and all Stallionisch citizens were deported to the United States of America. Following the initial crisis, Schpecktenia rapidly declined in productivity and well-being.
Schpecktenians celebrate the final end of the Greater Metro East War in Torga, Metbir, Shadoweghn. Shelters in the settlement begin reconstruction, and is officially classified as a Village of Metbir. Annexed Taydrostian land officially becomes a colony on 26 March 2024
A provincist party is founded, known as the National Provincism Party of Schpecktenia, and one supporter gets elected into the Grand Assembly. Tyler Allison is appointed as REO, and the United Military of Schpecktenia is restructured. Once productivity completely halted, the Schpecktenian government officially declared a period of inactivity until 18 May 2024.
