The House of Marx was a German-Irish Catholic farming family and later royal house founded with the immigration of Werner Marx to the United States sometime in the 1840's. The house would go on to produce numerous soldiers and other individuals of great renown before merging with the House of Langdon and first beginning to gather political prominence under Joseph Marx in the late 2000's when they became the princes, kings, and emperors of various Ohioan nations and eventually a landed house within the North American Confederation, though the current head of the family remains to be Joseph's father, Paul.
The original family emigrated from Prussia to the town of Bow Valley in Nebraska before merging with the Irish Langdon family in the 1956 to create the modern Marx family. Members of the Langdon family came to the United States sometime before 1850, from County Mayo in Ireland.
On 1 June 2008, Joseph Marx, son of the current head of the House of Marx, founded the United American Kingdom, declaring himself King Joseph I. This kingdom was eventually reformed into the Ohio River Republic and finally the Ohio Empire, where he declared himself Malum I, Emperor of Ohio.
Upon the reformation of the North American Confederation in 2015, the House of Marx removed all Imperial titles and claims to Ohio and are merely a high ranking landed house within the Confederation, though they do maintain a heavy political presence in the region.

Foundation
Men of the Soil, Oil, and Arms
Werner Marx, the earliest known ancestor of the Marx family, was born in Prussia in 1820. A humble farmer, he moved his entire family to Nebraska sometime before the American Civil War and helped found the town of Bow Valley. The family would continue to be farmers in the region well up into the early 20th century when they began to spread throughout the United States to become mechanics, engineers, and soldiers. Eventually, Dwain Marx, Werner's great-grandson and an automotive mechanic, became head of the family.
The German-Irish line
In 1956, Dwain Marx married Clara of the House of Langdon, an Irish Catholic family that had lived in Hartington, Nebraska since the 1850's. The Langdon's had been bankers and political dissenters who fled from the turmoil that wracked Ireland during the 19th century. With the merger of the two families, the major branch of the House of Marx became German-Irish. Dwain Marx died in 1990 and the head of the family passed to his second son, Paul.
Emperors of Ohio
In 2008, Paul's son, Joseph founded the United American Kingdom. He would continue to run the kingdom through its succeeding nations, the Ohio River Republic and the Ohio Empire. As Emperor of Ohio, Joseph saw his nation and family through a period of great political upheaval within the micronational community before eventually abdicating his royal throne in 2015 to help solidify the House of Marx's position within the North American Confederation.
Princes of North America
Though the House of Marx is no longer an independent royal house, the family still maintains strong political influence within the Confederation and has received several royal and noble titles as a result of their strong labors and efforts.

Coat of Arms of the House of Marx
The arms of the House of Marx were largely unknown before the foundation of the royal line. For the most part, the arms of any parent house could be represented by the region from which they were native, a sentiment that lives on in the current royal coat of arms.
The shield is divided into three sections. The upper left segment shows the flag of the Ohio Empire, the nation that led to the rise of the House of Marx as an important royal line. To the upper right is a white horse on a red field, taken from the coat of arms of North Rhine-Westphalia which was the native land of the Marx family in Germany. Finally, the lower half of the shield is the crosses and ship that make up the coat of arms of County Mayo, the homeland of the Langdon family.
Besides the shield, there are the two supporters, the golden royal lion, representing the power of the royal line, and the wild man, to hearken to the North American Confederation which supports the House of Marx just as much as they support it. In addition, a compartment of green meadows and flowers to symbolize the rejuvenation of the family in spite of any hardship. Finally, a massive golden helm, wreathed in feathers, memorializes the Imperial legacy of the family, even though they no longer hold any Imperial titles.
Other titles
With the reconstruction of the Confederation in early 2015, Joseph Marx abdicated the throne of Ohio officially and passed it along to the House of Hartmann-Peters. In recognition of this act, Emperor William I bestowed the titles of Prince of North America and Grand Duke of Marx.
On 30 September 2015, upon completing a diplomatic correspondence with the Principality of Imvrassia, Aggelos A' granted the House of Marx a place in Imvrassian nobility as Counts of Imvrassia.
