Prime MinisterNihal Ahmed resigned on 18 January 2024 on the advice of GovernorShowib Ahmmed. The Governor advised him to resign to give the power to an experienced one and to arrange a new election. It was the first voted election after the third amendment of the constitution. There were no political parties in Imruland. No one was allowed to participate in the election from a political party. All had to contest as independent candidates.
Electoral system
The Prime Minister is elected by an indirect election by the members of parliament as per Article 27 of the Constitution of Imruland. Voters cannot be less than 9 and not more than 20. The voters would be selected by the members of the Constitution Drafting Committee.
