Matthew Hanlon is an Irish retired micronationalist, the older brother of former Roscami President Anthony Hanlon, and the second Prime Minister of Mervustan from the 28th of June to the 3rd of November, when he was declared incapacitated and David Moore was appointed Prime Minister.
He also is noted for his help in creating the Mervustan Militia, and was its Lieutenant Commander from the 19th of September to the 3rd of November 2021. After his removal from the Mervustan premiership, he became less active, and left his political positions and military commands. He was a major in the National Army of Roscamistan until he was honourably discharged on 30 November 2022.
Micronational life
Early History
He found out Roscamistan was a thing through his brother Anthony Hanlon, not through Thomas Jacobs because Hanlon was already in his first year of secondary school, while his younger brother was in his last year of primary school. After the restoration of Mervustan as a province, Hanlon was invited by Thomas Jacobs to become the 2nd Prime Minister of Mervustan and accepted the invitation.
Mervustan Militia
Over a short period up to the 19th September of 2021, he and Doros Patusky, the second First Secretary of State began work on a provincial military unit to keep Mervustan loyal and defend it from external threat. He became Flannery’s lieutenant.
Removal from office and retirement
After frustration at ineffective administration nationally and provincially, Thomas Jacobs went committed a purge of government, called the Reforms of November. Jacobs sacked most of his cabinet, Royal Roscam was dissolved, new departments were made, and Hanlon was sacked. He was declared incapacitated, and was removed from office subsequently. His deputy, David Moore automatically became the Acting and soon full Prime Minister of Mervustan. Dean Merritt was appointed as the second Deputy Prime Minister of Mervustan in place of Moore. Hanlon did not contest the November elections, and retired from Roscami politics fully in December 2021, 6 months after his brother James. He kept the title of Viscount Mervustan and his Roscami citizenship.
Personal life
Hanlon lives in the region of Mervue, in the Province of Mervustan. He and his brother attend the same secondary school. He is a 4th year student. He has a brother, James and a sister. He plays sports, specifically soccer.
